Jan. 31, 2012 — State Reps. Jill York, R-Grayson, and Rocky Adkins, D-Sandy Hook, have filed candidacy papers to run for the House seat now held by Adkins in the 99th District.
York’s former 96th District seat was relocated to Fayette County.
The new 99th District consists of all of Carter and Elliott counties and parts of Boyd and Lawrence counties.
York previously represented all of Carter and Lewis counties.
Tuesday was the original filing deadline before Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd extended the deadline to Feb. 7 as the result of a lawsuit over redistricting of all House and Senate seats.
Adkins, who is serving his 13th term, filed last Friday. York, in her second term, filed Tuesday. No other candidates have filed for the seat.
