May 15, 2009 — Rowan County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Roger L. Holbrook, 56, was arrested Friday morning on federal charges of armed narcotic trafficking, according to the ATF.
George Huffman, special agent public affairs officer with the ATF Louisville office, confirmed Holbrook’s arrest.
Holbrook is charged with conspiracy to distribute oxycodone, as well as attempting to aid and abet in the distribution of oxycodone. He is also charged with possession of a firearm connected to drug trafficking.
If convicted on all charged, Holbrook faces 25 years in prison.
One online source has Holbrook with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department since 1996, and states he retired from the Morehead State University’s Police Department in 1996 after 26 years of service.
In a release “Kentucky Resources for Law Enforcement Professionals” the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police (KACP) has Holbrook listed as treasurer for the association.
