Jessie Pauline McCoy Fugitt
1916 – 2010
GRAYSON – Jessie Pauline McCoy Fugitt, 94, of Grayson, died August. 16, at her residence.
She was born at Pleasant Valley, May 8, 1916, the fifth child of Fenton Reid McCoy and Mertie May Counts.
Jessie Attended grade school at Spicy on Everman Creek, graduated from Prichard High School in 1934; and graduated from Portsmouth Interstate Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper and Office Manager for Grayson Milling, McGuire Motor Sales, and Ashland Finance.
She was a member of Bagby Memorial United Methodist Church in Grayson, and the Ashland Women’s Business Club.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, Roy Hart, and Benson Fugitt; three sisters, Gladys(Charlie)Glass, Doris(Roy) Fraley, Texie (Mason) Everman; and three brothers, Ercel McCoy, Verne (Vivian) McCoy of Tennessee, Carl McCoy (Edith Kouns & Deloris Greer).
She is survived by one sister, Bernice (Carl) Wilson and one brother; Woody (Marie) McCoy. eight Nephews; five Nieces; many friends and eight Special Care Givers, Lori Reynolds, Ashley Withrow, Freda Wages, Opal Montgomery, Sue Little, Linda P’Simer, Leanne P’Simer, and Carol Hensley.
Services were conducted August 19, at the Sparks Funeral Home by Susan Elkow minister.
Burial followed in the Grayson Memorial Park, were Rex McCoy, Carl W. McCoy, Dusty McCoy, Tim Wilson, Frank Martin, Lynn Houck, Travis Lemon and Brian Polling served as Pallbearer’s. Mike Little, Everett Earl McGuire, Willie Patton, Stewart Dyson, Tom Mattingly, and David Mullins served as honorary pallbearers.

Clifford Roy Bryant
1984 – 2010
OLIVE HILL – Clifford Roy Bryant, 26, of Olive Hill, passed away August 14, in Lake City, Florida.
He was born July 30, 1984, in Rowan County, a son of James and Wanda Barker Bryant of Olive Hill.
Clifford was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Roy Elliott Bryant; and his maternal grandparents, Clifford and Jane Burton Barker.
Besides his parents he is survived by two brothers, James Paul Bryant and John Robert Bryant, both of Olive Hill, two sisters, Shawn Denise Smith of Nicholasville, Ky, and Jamia Lynn Frazier of Olive Hill, several nieces and nephews; and his paternal grandmother, Genevene Easterling Bryant of Olive Hill. He also leaves other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held August 21, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Bobby Easterling and Brother Woodrow Rayburn officiating.
Burial followed in the Bryant Family Cemetery on Route 3298 in Olive Hill.
James Paul Bryant, John Easterling, Greg Bryant, Jake Stone, Joe Hedge, and Clifton Barker served as pallbearers.

Carole L. Staggs
1940 – 2010
ARKANSAS – Carole L. Staggs, 70, of Mt. Home Arkansas, passed away August 17.
She was born March 1, 1940 in Grayson, to Tommy and Blanch Terry.
She married Bill stags, a native of Norfork, AR, on September 23, 1978 in Livermore, Calif. then moved to Mt. Home in 1980.
Mrs. Staggs was employed by Good Samarian Village beginning in 1981. In 1983 she was the first recipient of the Germaine O’Neal Scholarship, graduating in 1984 from the Twin Lake Vocational Technical School with a degree in Nursing. Mrs. Staggs continued with Good Samaritan Village as Charge Nurse and Apartment Services Director until she retired in 2006. She returned to work in 2007 as Administrator at Baxter Retirement Center.
Mrs. Staggs was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Staggs. Also surviving are seven children, Christina Adkins, Kansas City, Mo., Cindy Copelen, Indianapolis, Ind., Patty Elemont, Detroit, Mich., Ron Staggs, Callistoga, Texas, James Akers, Monteca, Calif., Joy Thibault, Leominster, Mass, Jeff Akers, Mt. Home, Ark. 16 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Thena Beamer of Monteca, Calif., and a brother, Robert Terry of Amarillo, Texas.
Mrs. Staggs was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services were held August 29, at Eastside Baptist Church, in Mt Home.

Delmer Gilbert
1951 – 2010
OLIVE HILL – Delmer Gilbert, 59, of Olive Hill, passed away August 20, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
Mr. Gilbert was born August 10, 1951, a son of the late Ernest and Lula Dean Gilbert.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Elmo Gilbert, Woodrow Gilbert and Elwood Gilbert, two grandchildren, Andrew Delair and Michael Delair.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Kathy Middleton Gilbert, three sons, Delbert Gilbert and Mitchell Gilbert both of Morehead, Joseph Gilbert of Sandy Hook, two daughters, Sandra McClain of Morehead, and Rebecca Delair of Grahn, six grandchildren, five brothers, Richard Gilbert, Vernon Gilbert both of Grahn, Ernest Gilbert of Lawton, Homer Gilbert of Dupont, Ohio, Elmer Gilbert of Pleasant Bend, Ohio, four sisters, Evelyn Sparks of Soldier, Kentucky, Ona Garying of Grahn, Noma Lawhorn of Cloverdale, Ohio, Jearldine Mays of Dupont, Ohio. He also leaves behind several other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held at August 24, at the Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, with Brother Bobby Day officiating.
Burial followed in the Easterling Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Delbert Gilbert, Mitchel Gilbert, Joseph Gilbert, Erwin Fultz, Jeremy Hall and Ryan Seagraves served as pallbearers.
