East Carter’s Colt Barnhill has been named a 2010 McDonald’s All American High School Basketball Nominee.

Barnhill is one of only 2,500 high school players nationwide to be nominated to the team.

This year marks the 33rd anniversary of the boys’ game. From the field of nominees, 24 athletes will be chosen to compete in the 2010 McDonald’s All American Games. The final players will be announced in late February.

The game will tip off at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31 at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio and will air live on ESPN.

Proceeds from the games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbus.

Since 1977, over 700 players have competed in the McDonald’s All American Games, forming an elite list that reads like a “Who’s Who” in basketball history. Players include Alonzo Mourning, Magic Johnson, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant, as well as local standouts O.J. Mayo and Patrick Patterson.

Barnhill was presented with a special certificate and trophy last week during East Carter’s match up with Morgan County.
