In Monday’s pre-season tennis match against Boyd County the East Carter Middle School boys won 5–2 and the girls won 3-1.
In girls’ singles action, Morgan Hayes defeated Brittany Price 8-0 and Dana Biechele-Speziale took down Annie Smallwood 6–0.
In boys’ singles action, Jonathan Seagraves defeated Tyler Boggs 8–0 and Todd Nischan beat Hunter Boggs 6–0. Tanner Sammons defeated Matt Burdette 6–0 and Zack Albright took down Chan Lawson 6-0.
Shae Criswell and Morgan Hayes defeated Lauren Phelps and B. Price 7–6 (7 – 3) in girls’ doubles competition.
John Biechele-Speziale and Tanner Sammons defeated T. Boggs and C. Lawson 6-1 in boys’ doubles action.

East Carter takes to the tennis court
In last Thursday’s tennis match at the East Carter Middle School Courts, versus Greenup County, the boys lost 6 - 3 and now have a season record of 0 - 1. The girls won 6-3 and now have a season record of 1 - 0.

East archery goes to state
East Carter Middle School finished second in the Middle School Division of the 12th Region Archery Tournament held March 12 at Boyd County Middle School.

Raiders hire new football coach
The East Carter football Raiders will have a new head coach on the sidelines this season. The Raiders have hired former Kentucky Christian Head Coach Zack Moore.

The Raiders and Lady Raiders were honored at the EKC banquet at Carter Caves on Monday.

The East Carter Raiders ended their season in the first round of the 62nd District Tournament with a loss to cross-county rival West Carter.

East girls are district champs but fall in region first round
East Carter came into Thursday night’s 62nd District Championship game against West having lost to the Lady Comets two times already this season. The third time was the charm in the championship game as East beat West 47-37 in Olive Hill.

East exits in the district first round
It was the third meeting between East and West Carter last Tuesday night, but this time a berth in the 16th Regional Tournament was on the line. The third time wasn’t the charm for a depleted East squad as they fell to West 59-37 in the first round of the 62nd District Tournament.

East boys falter in final regular season games
The East Carter boys dropped the final two games of the season, falling to Bath County (76-60) last Tuesday night and then losing to Highlands 65-33 on Friday night.

East girls fall on senior night, then knock over Ashland
It was an emotionally intense last two regular season games for the East Carter Lady Raiders. The East girls came up short on senior night, falling to Rowan 44-32 Wednesday night. Two days later East would face the top team in the 16th Region, tumbling Ashland 43-30.
