Queen of the Bluegrass kicks off Monday

East Carter’s annual Queen of the Bluegrass Tournament kicks off Monday afternoon.

“We always look forward to the Queen,” Lady Raiders Coach Hager Easterling said. “Commercial Bank is our Corporate Sponsor and they put a lot into it every year. Win or loose you have three days of basketball at home and it is a lot of fun.”

Elliott County (4-6) opens competition with Campbell County (4-3) at 3 p.m. Breathitt County (4-3) meets George Rogers Clark (2-4) at 4:45 p.m. Ashland Blazer (5-1) will match up with Shelby Valley (3-1) at and East Carter (5-2) will cap off the night with East Ridge (3-3).

The losers of Monday’s games kick off their second round Tuesday at 1 p.m. The winners of the Ashland/ Shelby Valley and George Rogers Clark/ Breathitt games will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The winner of the East Carter/ East Ridge game will face off with the winner of the Elliott/ Campbell at 8:30 p.m.

The final round of the tourney will be Wednesday with consolation games starting at 1 p.m. The Championship game will begin at 6:15 p.m.
