Raiders move to 6-0

By Leeann Tanner - Staff Writer

The Raiders are still undefeated this season after taking down Lewis County Thursday, 54-39.

The Lions held their own in the game’s first minutes, but East executed an 11-point run to lead 15-5 at the end of the first quarter. Colt Barnhill put up eight points and Kyle Bair swished an unbelievable 75-footer at the buzzer to give the Raiders a 15-point lead. Lewis battled in the second half but were unable to catch the Raiders. Barnhill closed the game with a game high 22 points and nine rebounds. Bair finished up with 12.

The Raiders showed off their defensive power, holding the Lions to just 27-percent from the field. East fumbled a bit on offense, suffering 19 turnovers, many unforced.

The Raiders faced off with Huntington at home Tuesday night (after press time). They head to the Ashland Invitational on Monday.

East kicks off the tourney at 2:30 p.m. with 6-0 Bishop Brossart. They will have a game on Tuesday and Wednesday, but their opponents will be determined from Monday’s play. Christian County, Mason County, Johnson Central, Glasgow, Covington Catholic and Ashland Blazer will also be competing for the invitational title.
