The Lady Raiders slammed Lewis County at home Saturday, 55-28 to move to 20-4 on the season.
With a 19-point lead at the half, it was clear that East had overwhelmed the rebuilding Lewis County team.
“It was kind of a dull Saturday afternoon game,” East Coach Hager Easterling said. “We had been out of school all week, but we got out there and did what we needed to do. We took care of business and no one got hurt.”
Kristin Easterling led the Lady Raiders in scoring with 10 points. Lakota Burge, Emily Slone and Taylor Wilson had eight each. Courtney Sparks had five while Jessica Marshall, Jordan Parsons, and Jade Stumbo had four each. Bryana Greenhill put up two while Ashley Sargent and Keri Steele hit one each from the charity stripe.
The Lady Raiders will play host to Menifee County tonight (Wednesday) at 6 p.m. Easterling, Sparks, Slone, and Marshall will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. All four girls are slated to graduate in May.
“Menifee is an up and coming team,” Easterling said. “We have to get out there and work on it, focus on this game and try to get better. We do the same thing in every practice and every game.”
East’s gals travel to Ashland Blazer on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. tip off. The Kittens beat East earlier this season, 53-47 and hold the second seed in the Region with a 16-5 record.
“We have to go over there and try to get after them and play better than we did the first time,” Easterling said. “They have a lot of weapons. We have to keep the Conner girl off the backboard and make them work for everything they get.”
East kicks off post-season play on Monday at Morgan County. They face the Lady Cougars at 6 p.m.
“It will be the same type of game we saw last time,” Easterling said. “It will be a very intense game on their home floor. We will have to play well, get out and handle the basketball and get good shots. We have to make sure we don’t give them anything either.”
