KCU volleyball finishes third at nationals

Nov. 14, 2012 — The Kentucky Christian University volleyball team played in one of two semi-final matches of the NCCAA National Tournament on Saturday. KCU faced off against Maranatha Baptist Bible College at noon and lost 3-1.

After a successful run in their pool, going 3-1, the Lady Knights made it to the semi-finals of the national tournament. This is the furthest the team has gone at nationals.

The Lady Knights started the game with a lot of energy and used the momentum of making it to Saturday to grab the 25-21 victory in the first set. In the second set, Maranatha’s experience showed up and they were able to use it to defeat KCU 25-13, 25-14, and 25-17 to win the game 3-1.

“Although this hurts now, we know we had a special season and nothing can take that away,” said Head Coach Bruce Dixon. “Our team is young and a performance like this will build a great foundation for the future. I’m extremely proud of their efforts and the overall season!”

The Lady Knights had two players make the NCCAA All-Tournament team; senior hitter Ally Hall and sophomore setter Lauren Dunn.
