Nov. 2, 2011 —
Kentucky Christian University men’s and women’s basketball opened the 2011 season last night.
Both teams traveled to Pippa Passes to do battle with the Eagles of Alice Lloyd College.
The men are fresh of an exhibition game against the Big-Blue All-Stars and will look to continue cultivating a solid program after last year’s 20-12 season.
With the graduation of KCU star and All-American Casey Jones, the Knights will have to find a new weapon to lead the offense. Freshman guard Jared Ravenscraft emerged as an early candidate with his performance against the All-Stars.
The women will look to use a couple new recruits to build on last year’s 18-14 record.
The Lady Knights will be in action again tomorrow night when they travel to Morehead to face the Lady Eagles of MSU in an exhibition competition. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at MSU’s Johnson Arena. The game will be followed by MSU’s men taking on Mountain State at 7:45 p.m.
MSU’s ladies boast a talented array of players that could make things difficult for the Lady Knights. Senior guard Courtney Lumpkin and junior Ashar Harris lead a young MSU roster that includes Olive Hill’s own Kristin Perry.
