Pleasant Valley Cemetery update

April 18, 2012 — The editor:

Due to the warm weather, we had to begin our mowing season early at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Therefore, we must have your help to continue through the mowing season.

Due to the high gas prices, we all know how much more it cost us to mow at home. This is also the case for the cemetery. Therefore it will cost us more to keep our cemetery maintained. We are looking at expenditures in excess of $4,000 this year. Your dues are $35 and now due. If you have more than one lot, please consider this upon making this contribution. Make checks payable to: Pleasant Valley cemetery P.O. Box 123 Grahn, KY 41142.

We would like to thank those of you who have been so faithful to send your dues each year. This has enabled us to have a cemetery we can be proud of.

Access to addresses of lot owners has been a challenge. If you know of anyone who has lots or loved ones who are buried there that would be willing to contribute to the up-keep of their family plots, please help us get the word out. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Due to EPA regulations... no burning of plastic or etc. at the cemetery, we’re asking everyone to dispose of old flowers, containers and boxes. The cemetery has posted no dumping at various spots.

If you have any suggestions or would be interested in serving on the board, please speak to a board member. All board members work on a volunteer status. All money is used for cemetery needs/up-keep. All donations are greatly appreciated.

  • Research is helpful for wet/dry decision

I've had good conversations with those on both sides of the wet/dry issue including pastors and most agree this issue is not about religion except on an individual level.

  • Wet-dry vote will affect entire county

Most of us are acquainted with the phrase "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." That must be the mindset of the powers that be who made the rule that only the Grayson precincts get to vote on the upcoming issue of 'wet or dry'.
