June 11, 2008 — Editor,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Grayson Journal-Enquirer for the wonderful coverage of all the events and happenings at Grayson Meals on Wheels (GMOW). I specifically want to thank Leeann Tanner for her column “Carter Nursing and Grayson Meals on Wheels Team Up to Feed Local Elders,” which appeared in the June 4 edition of the paper. The column excellently summed up the teamwork between GMOW and the kitchen staff of Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation.
However, I am afraid that the article might have left an impression with some readers the GMOW does not appreciate the contributions that local restaurants have made to our program in the past. Nothing can be further from the truth. On the contrary, GMOW is eternally grateful for the help and support that was afforded by each of our local food vendors.
When GMOW was established just over three years ago, local vendors played an integral part in providing for the needs of our clients. The food that was prepared by local restaurants was excellent in every way.
Even today, many local restaurants continue to support GMOW by providing donations of many different kinds. For instance, Papa John’s Pizza catered our most recent monthly meeting free of charge.
Once again, I want to thank the Grayson Journal-Enquirer for its excellent coverage of Grayson Meals on Wheels and the service we provide to the local community.
Sincerely,
Ed Caudill

Editor,
The Board of Directors of the Grayson Senior Citizens Center like to thank 4-H agent Rebecca Konopka, team council members: Brianna Cooke, Junior at East Carter High School and Kayla Oney, Senior at West Carter High School for volunteering their time washing windows inside and out at the Senior Citizens Center. We really appreciate these young adults volunteering their time doing community services. We would also like to thank Kelly Cooke for helping.
