My name is Ray Evans, a young Republican from Grayson. I’m writing you in regards to an article that I read in the newspaper over the weekend. The article was about a proposal to start taxing farmers for the odor of their livestock. What? I can’t believe what I am reading, and I can’t believe a person would want to propose something like that.
There are more important things to worry about, than the stinky odor a farm animal produces. If I can recall correctly, ours isn’t too pleasant either. Is there going to be a proposal to tax us because our manure sticks. I’ll not be surprised if someone doesn’t request the government to help fund a research from the stimulus package, to find out why livestock stink; for instance PIGS or why poop stinks in general.
Why don’t people worry about the real problems of this country - like getting our economy back on track, making stiffer penalties for drug related crimes, about the education of our children, or to help the less fortunate, starving and homeless children right here in America, and the folks, primarily the elderly, that can’t even afford the medicines they need to survive.?
I can go on about the real problems that are being overlooked. The select few that I don’t even know, worry me in their thinking. I believe they need to get their heads out of the bucket and focus on what is important.
This great country that I love dearly is slowly destroying itself by ignorant thinking skills. This country is the most powerful country in the world, yet people are without jobs, and are loosing their homes. It is a very sad topic that we have to look at everyday.
Not to get off track on why I am writing what I’m writing, with proposals that are really out of this world is why our country is in the shape that it is.
So I hope in the future people will start proposing something that would be of some real benefit toward the people of the United States of America.

Time to clean cemetery

Spring is in the air and along with spring comes that time of the year for clean up and for upkeep of the Lindsey Cemetery and we need your help to do so.
What better way to honor your loved ones, but by helping to keep their final resting place looking clean, attractive and comforting.
It costs approximately $900 per year for the upkeep and we are starting with zero balance this year, so any family member interested in helping with the effort of keeping the Lindsey Cemetery clear of clutter and keeping the grass mowed can do so by donating.
Donations can be sent to The Lindsey Pactolus Community Center, c/o Paul and Ruth Damron, 3826 N. St. Hwy. 7, Grayson, KY 41143.

Gregoryville Everman Cemetery is in need of funds for the upkeep of the grounds.

There will be a Big Work Day Saturday, April 18. Lots of jobs! The more people show up, the more jobs get done.

Questions about Hitchins school
I am a member of the Hitchins Preservation Society and have worked various events to raise money to renovate the Hitchins High School buildings. I was shocked to read that Mr. Isaacs had given the school to the Christian school group. It had been my understanding that he had given it to the HPS several years ago.
