Aug. 18, 2010 —
Editor,
Has anyone noticed that our wonderful country is in major trouble? Do you think one person can't do anything? Remember Esther in the Bible? She agreed to do what she could to save her people and God helped her.
She fasted, and I am sure, prayed, for three days. So did her fellow Jews. God saw and heard, and they were delivered. I have been asking myself "What can I, a woman, do?"
I keep coming back to the verse in II Chronicles 7:14 that says: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
Is it too much to ask you to pray, yes, and even fast, for our country, our leaders, and most of all our churches and fellow Christians? If we don't stand strong, we will lose our freedom to worship the very God who gave us this glorious freedom we have today.
Please join me in earnest prayer. Isn't our great country worth just a little effort and self-sacrifice?
Sincerely,
Sandra Gollihue

Editor,
We want to thank Advance Auto Parts in Grayson for graciously letting the East Carter High School Girls Soccer Team conduct a car wash in their parking lot on Saturday, August 14, 2010.
They donated the space and also supplies. Everything given was greatly appreciated and we want to thank them for supporting our athletes and community.
Because of their generosity, and also the giving hearts of all those that participated, our girls soccer team has been truly blessed.
Thank you very much,
East Carter High School
