Carter City Fireworks
Editor,
I recently attended Carter County's best kept secret. Saturday night I viewed the fireworks show at Carter City's ball field.
The crowd was very orderly, and the fireworks were as good as those at Disney World (excluding Tinker Bell off the Castle). These, however, lasted longer.
I am aware that they get donations, but in no way are they getting enough to cover the expense of that. If they are, I am very happy for that. However, donations aside, still there is a care group of people, lead by a young man Lincoln Theinert, who are giving a great deal of time and effort to this cause. It is amazing to see someone give of his time to first have the vision, then organize the show, order the fireworks, and then the set-up and break-down of all of the props used. My hat is off to you and your crew.
The best outcome of this however, is something I have not seen since I left Kentucky, it is a sense of community. There was no trouble, no comparing who looked the best or who was driving the best car. It was just about neighbors enjoying a night under the stars with their families and friends.
What a jewel, and what a memory to give to my family.
Thank you to all who help bring this to the Carter community.
Mr. Daugherty
Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Additional thanks
Editor,
We regret that one of our sponsors for the July 4th Homecoming festivities was left out of the letter in last week's edition of Journal-Times. We want to thank Slones Market of Olive Hill for their contribution.
Thanks,

Good company
Editor,
There’s not enough good things I can say about CADCO Heating & Cooling, Inc.
Three times they were “Johnny on the Spot”! This last time my upstairs heat pump wasn’t cooling in 100º weather, and at 11:30 p.m. CADCO was here the following morning and had it fixed in 10-15 minutes. They are my heating - cooling people.

Questions about Hitchins school
I am a member of the Hitchins Preservation Society and have worked various events to raise money to renovate the Hitchins High School buildings. I was shocked to read that Mr. Isaacs had given the school to the Christian school group. It had been my understanding that he had given it to the HPS several years ago.
