Senior coupons available

June 10, 2009 — Carter County has received $9,048 in Senior Citizen Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons.

This is enough for 377 eligible senior citizens to receive $24 in

food coupons each. The schedule for distribution is as follows:

¥ June 16 from 9:30 to 12 noon at the Grayson Senior Citizen Center

¥ June 22 from 1 Ð 3 p.m. at NE KY Community Action Agency in Olive Hill

¥ June 23 from 10:00-12:00 noon at the NE KY Community Action Agency in Grayson

If any coupons remain, the remaining coupons will be available at the Carter County Extension Office until all is given out.

Eligibility requirements are: you must be 60 years of age or older and a monthly income of $1,174.00 or less for a household of one. The monthly income limit is increased by $406 for each additional household member. You must bring proof of age and proof of Income with you in order to receive the coupons.

If you are eligible and cannot come to the distribution, a representative can come in your place as long as they bring your proof of age and proof of income. For more information, call the Carter County Extension office at 474-6686.

    York’s former 96th District seat was relocated to Fayette County.

    The new 99th District consists of all of Carter and Elliott counties and parts of Boyd and Lawrence counties.
