Two die in crash
July 3, 2009 — A man and his granddaughter died Wednesday along KY 7 in Elliott County when the vehicle they were traveling in spun out of control and hit an embankment.
E.H. ÒPatÓ Evans, 74, of Sandy Hook and 36-year-old Lisa Ann Crockett, of Elliott and formerly of Hitchins, were pronounced dead at the scene following a single-vehicle accident in front of the Bruin Body Shop about 2:41 p.m., said Kentucky State Police in Morehead.
Evans and Crockett were both ejected from the vehicle as it flipped several times. Police have not said who was driving the vehicle when it crashed.
Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home in Sandy Hook was in charge of both services that took place July 4.
His wife Fay Knipp Evans, one daughter Pam Gollihue of Elliott County, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren survive Evans.
Crockett leaves behind her husband Ernest A. Crockett and four children, Helen, Kyle, Isaiah and Layla.
According to sources, Pat Evans loved spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren and he enjoyed milking his cows and sharing the milk.
The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Mike McPherson.
