Oct. 3, 2012 — Coinciding with the city’s trick-or-treat night, “LIFToween” will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the depot parking lot in downtown Olive Hill.
Sponsored by All Things Ministries, the LIFT in “LIFToween” stands for Love, Inspiration, Faith…Together!
All of LIFToween’s treats, games, music, and activities, except the haunted house, are free to the public.
The haunted house, open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., will be located at the new fire training facility and cost $7 per person to attend.
All proceeds will go toward purchase of new equipment for the Olive Hill Fire Department.
The haunted house also will be open on Oct 19 and 20 and Oct 26 and 27 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Among the activities, a significant focus of LIFToween is teaching children the importance of compassionate giving.
All month, donation boxes will be placed at Dollar General Store, Do It Best Hardware, and City Hall and also will be available at the LIFToween site.
At these donation centers, children will be encouraged to give back some of their own treats to others.
Each of the boxes will have a list of acceptable items posted that are needed to make individual treat bags for nursing home residents and children who are patients at local hospitals.
Groups wishing to participate in the LIFToween event, whether a family, church, youth group, business, club or civic organization, will need to reserve spaces at the depot parking lot in advance.
Each group will be limited to one vehicle in the depot parking lot area.
