Nov. 28, 2012 —
The Holy Rollers Motorcycle Ministry group is organizing its fifth annual toy drive, which is supported by the churches of Carter County.
Many groups will ban together to support a cause they all believe in, helping children in need have a happier Christmas.
Just as in years past, the group hopes to increase its donations in order to increase the number of families assisted.
In 2008 the group was able to assist 430 children and in 2011 they were able to raise $12,233, which served 594 children.
The Holy Rollers' goal for 2012 is to surpass their 2011 total in hopes to reach even more children.
The toy drive is in honor of Gared Maggard, a 13 year old who was killed during a 2005 home invasion. Gared was the son of Philip “Ghost” and Terry Maggard.
The 2012 toy drive will take place Saturday Dec. 15 at the Holy Rollers clubhouse, which is the log building located behind K-Mart. The group will also be set up for weekend visitation at the Carter County Jail on Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday, Dec. 16.
More details will be available in the Journal-Times as a schedule is finalized.
The group begins accepting donations for the event in early October. However, the Holy Rollers would not be able to do this without the help of many local churches in the area.
“This is not just a Holy Roller giveaway; this is a body of Christ giveaway,” Chaplin Kyle Burchett said.
The Holy Rollers believe there is no division or denominational difference in this list of churches that have offered so much support.
The group would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the following churches:
Christway Church, Cherokee Freewill Baptist, 1st Church of Nazarene, Christ Community, Solider Wesleyan, Garvin Ridge Wesleyan, Globe Christian Church, Victory Christian Church, Pleasant Valley Tabernacle, Pactolus Methodist, Three Pine Freewill Baptist, New Hope Community, New Harvest Ind., Hopewell Methodist, Oak Grove Church of Christ, First Baptist Church of Grayson, New Hope Church of God of Prophecy, Grayson Freewill Baptist, New Beginnings Assembly of God, New Life Victory Center, Bowen Chapel, Grahn Hill Freewill, Mills Branch, Old Oakland Church, and Mosbey United.
They are grateful for the help in years past, however to make this year even more of a success they need even more help.
To make a donation to the cause please mail your check to the HRMM at 127 Spring Hill Dr. Grayson KY 41143. 100 percent of all donations go straight to the children. For additional information call Pam at 471-0239.
