March 3, 2010 — A Morehead man got a shock Thursday morning when he was sleeping on his couch and a 1998 Bonneville was driven through his kitchen.

According to police, Jeffery Dixon, 49, of Olive Hill was headed westbound on U.S. 60 East when his car crossed the oncoming lane, ran off the road, and went airborne, striking an electric pole, hitting a parked vehicle and a tree before entering a residence. The house was eight miles up U.S. 60 east and owned by William Dehart of Morehead. Dehart received minor injuries.

“He admitted taking some oxycodone that morning,” KSP Trooper Chris Jones said of the driver. “He said he had a seizure while driving his vehicle.”

Dixon was charged with wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain proper insurance, and improper registration.

Dixon was transported by Rowan EMS to St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Also responding to the scene was Morehead Fire Department, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and a utility company. The wreck is under investigation by Jones and Detective Toby Gardner.
