Sept. 19, 2012 — The Kentucky State Police are investigating an injury collision that occurred Sunday on I-64 near the Industrial Parkway.
Kimberly Adams, 51, of Cattlesburg was operating a 2011 Toyota Rav4 Westbound on I64 and attempted to avoid impact with a large trailer tarp, which was in the road.
Adams lost control of the vehicle, which caused the vehicle to spin and then overturn. During the collision Katherine Tackett, 45, of Grayson was ejected from the vehicle.
Tackett was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington for head injuries and was treated and released. Two other occupants of the vehicle reported no injuries.
It was determined through Trooper Boarman’s investigation that alcohol was not a factor in the collision and all occupants were wearing safety restraints.
Trooper Boarman was assisted on the scene by Carter County EMS and the Grayson and Norton Branch fire departments.
The collision remains under investigation.
