Knipp arrested in Carter Caves robbery

Dec. 26, 2012 —     The Kentucky State Police have arrested a Carter County resident for his involvement in the reported robbery at Carter Caves State Resort Park.

Shawn Knipp, 19, of Olive Hill, was arrested for theft by unlawful taking.

Knipp was the on duty clerk and reported victim at the time of the robbery on August 25.  The investigation reveled numerous inconsistencies between statements made to Detectives and evidence located at the scene.  The case was presented to a Carter County Grand Jury and an arrest indictment was returned.

Knipp was taken to the Carter County Detention Center and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking on Dec. 18.  He was released on a $10,000 cash bond that same evening.
