Two Grayson KSP promoted

Post 14 announces new commander

Aug. 25, 2010 — Two Grayson residents have been promoted by the Kentucky State Police.

Tpr. James H. Goble, a resident of Grayson and a native of Inez, was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 14 in Ashland. A six-year KSP veteran,

Goble is a 1998 graduate of Sheldon Clark High School in Inez and a 2002 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.

He is the son of Steve and Joyce Goble of Inez.

Tpr. Erik S. Kouns, a resident and native of Grayson, was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 14 in Ashland.

A seven-year KSP veteran, Kouns is a 1998 graduate of East Carter High School and a 2001 graduate of Morehead State University.

He is the son of Perry and Donna Kouns of Grayson.

The KSP Ashland Post has also announced CPT Merrell Harrison as the new Post Commander for Post 14 in Ashland, which encompasses the counties of Boyd, Carter, Greenup and Lawrence.

CPT Harrison is a 19-year veteran of the Kentucky State Police with the following career path:

• Native of Harlan, KY

• Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree in Police Administration

• Assignments: Trooper Post 9 Pikeville, Trooper Post 7 Richmond, Sergeant Post 9 Pikeville, Sergeant Post 8 Morehead, Lieutenant Property Management Branch, Lieutenant Internal Affairs, Lieutenant Post 7 Richmond, Lieutenant Operations Staff Officer Headquarters, Lieutenant Post 14 Ashland Operations, Lieutenant Post 8 Morehead Operations, Current Commander Ashland.

Harrison is married to Regina Harrison and they have two children, Jayleigh, 7, and Holly, 3.
