Webb to serve on Senate budget committee

Jan. 2, 2013 —     Sen. Robin L. Webb, D-Grayson, will be a member of the Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee when the 2013 legislative session convenes on Jan. 8.

    For Webb, it will be a new opportunity to use her extensive knowledge of state government budget issues developed during 10 years in the Kentucky House.

    When she left the House in 2009 for a Senate seat in the six-county 18th District, she was the first vice chair of House Appropriations and Revenue.

    “I’m happy to be able to use my budget experience in the Senate and I’m very pleased that leadership has confidence in my ability to serve on this important committee,” Webb said Monday.

    The senator said in October that she expects the Kentucky Senate will be operate differently under the leadership of newly-chosen President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester.

    Stivers succeeds Sen. David Williams who resigned to become a circuit judge.

    Notified last Friday of her move to Senate A & R, the Grayson attorney said she will continue to serve on the agriculture, judiciary and natural resources and energy committees.

    The 18th Senatorial District includes Carter, Bracken, Greenup, Lewis, Mason and Robertson counties.

    Webb also is serving as national president of the Morehead State University Alumni Association.
