Casey Jo Elliott

2008-2008

GRAYSON - Casey Jo Elliott, infant son of Carla D. Mayo Elliott and William Monroe Elliot, died Saturday evening, November 15, 2008 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grand parents, Bo and Carol Mayo of Grayson, his paternal grand parents, John and Linda Elliott of Grayson, two great grand mothers, Bobby Mayo and Laura Conley both of Grayson. Casey Jo also leaves behind and will be sadly missed by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.

Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Rockwall United Baptist Church, by Lewis Bair, Eury Barker, and Homer Bowling. Burial will follow in the Seagraves Cemetery.

Friends may call after 10:00 AM and until time of Service Thursday, at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.

Bonnie Stamper Lewis

1964-2008

VANCEBURG - Bonnie Stamper Lewis, age 44, of Trace Road, Vanceburg, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday evening, November 16, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born March 21, 1964, in Boyd County, a daughter of the late Alvin and Irene Fultz Stamper.

Bonnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Besides being a homemaker, along with her husband, she was owner and operator of the Lewis Mill.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Knipp.

She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-seven years, Merl Edward Lewis; one son and a daughter-in-law, Merl Edward Jr. and Sara Lewis of Vanceburg; one daughter and a son-in-law, Misty and Michael Carr of Greenup; one grandson, Sawyer Lewis; one granddaughter, Carmen Lewis; eight brothers, Everett Stamper and Virgil Stamper of Olive Hill, Leroy Stamper, Paul Stamper, Willard Stamper, Jack Stamper and Arthur Stamper all of Mansfield, Ohio, Andrew Stamper of Morehead; six sisters, Linda Riley and Frances DeHart of Olive Hill, Reba Mays of Maple Height, Ohio, Lottie Wilson of Ashland, Ohio, Wilma Lewis and Joann William of Carter City; she also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m on Wednesday, November 19, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix, with Brother Mac Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery on Trace Fork Road in Lewis County.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.



Judy Lee Wagoner Adkins

1956-2008

SANDY HOOK - Judy Lee Wagoner Adkins, age 52, of Sandy Hook, passed away Monday, November 10, at her residence.

She was born January 20, 1956, in Elliott County, a daughter of the late Earl and Audra Elliott Wagoner.

Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was a talented artist and worked as a custodian for the Elliott County Board of Education, where she was lovingly referred to as ‘Miss Judy’. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-six years, Charles Adkins; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles Christopher and Mary Adkins, Joseph Paul Adkins and Scotty Roe Adkins all of Sandy Hook; four grandchildren, Olyvia Michelle Adkins, Rebecca Lynn Adkins, Hunter Joseph Adkins and Christopher Blake Adkins all of Sandy Hook; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Roy Franklin Wagoner of Sandy Hook, Alex Wayne and Amy Wagoner of Lewis County; one sister and brother-in-law, Josephine Nadine and Danny Fultz of Stephens.

Funeral services were held, 1 p.m. Thursday, November 13, in the chapel of the Waddell & Whitt Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, with Brother Reggie Dickerson officiating. Burial followed in the Adkins Family Cemetery on Highway 173 in Sandy Hook.

Joe Adkins, Charles Adkins, Scotty Adkins, Alex Wagoner, Danny Fultz and Scotty Brown served as pallbearers. Roy Franklin Wagoner, Mitchell Burton, Robert Burton, Mike Burton, Ray Brewer, T.C. Kegley and Jamie Howard served as honorary pallbearers.



Deloris Adkins

1928-2008

RUSH - Deloris Adkins, 80, of Rush died Thursday, November 13, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

She was born May 31, 1928 in Rush, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ethel Hensley Burton. Deloris was a homemaker and of the Christian Faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Adkins and one grandson, Kevin Crisp, and a special friend Pearl Woods.

She is survived by three sons, Jerry (Barbara) Burton of Columbia, TN, Michael (Lois) Burton of Midland, MI, Tommy Burton of Colonial Heights, VA; two daughters, Trecia (Brent) Perry, and Edith Webb both of Ashland; one sister, Louella Moore of Ashland; 31 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three special friends, Kim Gillum, Tim Burton, and Dave Barber. In addition to these Deloris leaves behind a host of relatives and friends who will sadly miss her and mourn her passing.

Services were conducted 3 p.m. Sunday November 16, at Sparks Funeral Home by Tim Waggoner and James McCown. Burial followed in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.



Albert Barker, Jr.

1924-2008

GRAHN – Albert Barker, Jr. (know to family and friends as June, Junior, and in earlier years, Dude), age 84, of Oats Hill Road, Grahn, husband of Lucille Lowe Barker, passed away Sunday, November 9, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

Born September 7, 1924, he was the son of the late Albert and Amanda Mosier Barker.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Gene Barker; and two brothers, Earl Barker and Willard Barker.

In addition to his wife, Lucille; Junior is survived by one son, Ronald Lee (Judy) Barker of Grahn; one daughter, Joyce Ann (J.D.) Hackney of Morehead; three grandchildren, Jonathan Albert Barker, Jason Allen (Marie) Barker, and Joseph Ashley Barker; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Hunter Barker, Evan Faith Barker, Bailey Grace Barker, and Makalah Donn Barker, all of Grahn; two sisters, Avanell Smith and Minnie Lawhorn both of Olive Hill; and one brother, Raymond Huntsman of Grahn.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 12, at 1 p.m. at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home. Tom Peffer and Wade Muncy officiated the service. Burial followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, where military rites were performed.

Pallbearers for the service were Jonathan Barker, Jason Barker, Joseph Barker, David Lowe, Gary Maddix and Darrin Hackney.



Denton “B” Hamm

1938-2008

LEXINGTON - Denton "B" Hamm, 70, formerly of Morehead, passed away Thursday Nov.13 in Lexington.

His wife, Jane, preceded him in death. Two sons, Edward Hamm of Mount Sterling and Duane Hamm of North Carolina; and two daughters, Tammy and Diane Hamm of Grayson, survive him.

A memorial service was conducted Sunday, Nov.16 at Goose Creek Baptist Church, Morehead. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Avenue, Ashland, Ky. 41101.



Lois Faye Kiser

1947-2008

MOREHEAD – Lois Faye Kiser, age 61, of Morehead, passed away Saturday, November 8, at the Saint Claire Regional Medical Center.

She was born June 26, 1947 in Carter County, the daughter of Ollie Jean Cooper Kiser and the late Clifford Kiser.

Lois worked for Electronic Data Systems, but was now retired.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son, Ashley Kiser of Morehead; one brother, Rick Kiser and wife Charlotte of Olive Hill; a niece, Heather Kiser; and two nephews, Richard Tyler Kiser and David Parton and wife, Stephanie.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 11 at 7 p.m. at Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill with Rudy Reed officiating.



Grace Lee Sagraves

1924-2008

JOHN RUN - Grace Lee Sagraves, 84 of Johns Run, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, November 10, in Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born August 24, 1924 in Carter Co., a daughter of the late Hamilton and Minnie Bayes Isaac.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Hitchins Christian Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer F. Sagraves in 1996, one brother Raymond Isaac and a sister Ruby Horne.  She is survived by three sons Elmer Ray Sagraves of Elliott County, Robert Sagraves and James L. Sagraves both of Grayson; one sister Nancy Mullins of Grayson; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  Funeral services were conducted Thursday 1 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home by ministers Harold Salyers and Delmar Rogers.  Burial followed in the East Carter County Memorial Gardens.



Nannie Mullins

1916-2008

LONDON - Nannie Mullins, age 92, of London, passed away November 12. She was born October 19, 1916. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Interment Wesley Chapel cemetery.
