Minnie Louise Eden McGlone
1919-2009
OLIVE HILL - Minnie Louise Eden McGlone, age 90, of Olive Hill, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, June 27.
Mrs. McGlone was born May 12, 1919, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Ora and Sadie Madden Eden Jessie.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Olive Hill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Claude Jessie; husband of forty-three years, Homer McGlone; two brothers, Homer Jessie and Charles Jessie; six sisters, Malinda Durham, Mary Jessie, Cleo McDavid, Maudie Elsner, Geogia Simmerman and Mabel Wise; one grandson, Paul Bailey; one daughter-in-law, Martha Sue Gabbard McGlone.
Minnie is survived by one son, Billy Hugh McGlone of Olive Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Larry Bailey of Olive Hill; two grandchildren, Billy Michael and Jessica McGlone of Mount Sterling, Amy Bailey Holton and Homer of Grayson; one granddaughter- in-law, Fiona Bailey of Worthington; one great- granddaughter, Julia Applegate; four great-grandsons, Zachary Bailey; William Andrew McGlone, Quinten Alexander McGlone and Camron Flowers; one brother, Earl Jessie of Seymour, Illinois; two sisters, Myrtle Thompson of Ingalls, Indiana and Vadie Roseberry of Greenville, Indiana. She also leaves a host of other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral service were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Mark Lilly officiating. Burial followed in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Velta Thornsberry Shay
1917-2009
MOREHEAD - Velta Thornsberry Shay, 91, of Soldier, passed away Sunday, June 28, in the Life Care Center.
She was born on July 8, 1917 in Morgan County, a daughter of the late Pete and Alice Sergent Thornsberry.
Mrs. Shay was retired from Cowden’s Manufacturing. She was a member of the Soldier Church of God and enjoyed quilting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlow Shay, who passed away on March 23, 1967, two brothers, Gladie Thornsberry and Kelly Thornsberry and two sisters, Vernon Snowden and Gladys Conley.
Survivors include one brother-in-law, John Conley of Lexington, two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Thornsberry of Olive Hill and Phyllis Thornsberry formerly of Dayton, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Gayle Price officiating.
Burial will follow in the Patton Cemetery at Soldier.
Pallbearers will be great-nephews.

Lloyd C. Sagraves
1933-2009
WEBBVILLE - Lloyd C. Sagraves, 75, of Webbville, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 22, at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was born June 29, 1933 in Carter County, a son of the late Russell and Myrtle Sue Blevins Sagraves.
He was retired from E.B. Loman Construction, was employed with North American Brickyard for 17 years and Dayton Malibul Iron for 11 years. Lloyd was a member of the United Steel Workers of America and attended the Little Brushy United Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, George C. Seagraves; a sister, Dorothy Mae Seagraves Branham and 2 brothers, James Ralph Seagraves and Harlan A. Seagraves.
His survivors include His wife, Kathleen Crum Sagraves of Webbville; 3 daughters, Ida Sue and Rocky Jones of Norfolk, VA, Linda Lou Lewis of Akins, SC and Jewell and Kip Wilson of Atlanta, GA; 2 sons, Ralph and Cathy Seagraves of Lavallette, WV and Mike L. and Melissa Seagraves of Greenup; 11 grandchildren, Brian Swanagan of Grayson, Keisha Swanagan of Arcadia, IN, Daniel Davis of Lincoln, Nebraska, Mandy Mable of California, Ashley Barada of Ashland, Michael A. Seagraves of Ashland, Toni R. Seagraves of Grayson, Jamie Lynn Seagraves of Grayson, Nikki Seagraves of Grayson, Christopher Seagraves of Lavallette, WV and Tyler Wilson of Atlanta, GA; 5 great-grandchildren, Kailyn Barada, Kiley Barada, Jordan Shiplett, Lauren Gleim and Alexandrea Thomas; 3 brothers, Orville Sagraves of Denton, John B. Seagraves of Olive Hill, and Ernest Eugene Seagraves of Grayson.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with J.B. Seagraves and Tim Porter, officiating. Burial followed in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Ottis Sherman “Ott” Buckler
1920-2009
GRAYSON - Ottis Sherman “Ott” Buckler, 89, of Grayson died Saturday evening June 27, at Boyd Nursing and Rehab Center in Ashland.
He was born January 18, 1920 in Carter County and was the son of the late William “Bill” and Bessie Sexton Buckler.
Mr. Buckler was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of the VFW Post 3705, a member of the First Baptist Church in Grayson, and a retired Mechanic and Service Station Owner.
He also was retired from M&B; Surplus Pawn Shop in Grayson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alma Lee Buckler, two daughters, Karen “Bo” Fankell, Karla Kay Buckler; one brother, Byron Buckler; three sisters, Elsie Stafford, Modie Lewis, and Delphia Webb.
He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Haight of Morehead, Margaret (Lawrence) McGuire of Mansfield, OH; a son-in-law, Sonny Fankell of Grayson; two brothers, Donald (Rene) Buckler of Portsmouth, OH, Robert(Karen) Buckler of Willard; two sisters, Fay Hall of Portsmouth, OH, Betty Gerson of St. Simons Island, GA; seven grandchildren, Lajuanda Haight-Maybriar, Saunsia Tomecko, Lea Ann Sexton, John O’Leary Haight Jr., Lawrence Leroy McGuire Jr., Sonnie Hayes, Stacy Sturgill; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to these, he is also survived by special caregivers, Paul and Ruth Roberts.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday July 1, at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by George Steele. Burial will follow in the Grayson Memorial Park, with Military Rites Conducted by the East Carter JROTC.

Sharen Louise Cole Owens

OLIVE HILL - Sharen Louise Cole Owens, age 58, of Olive Hill, passed away, Wednesday evening, June 24, at the Saint Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Mrs. Owens was born June 29, 1950, in Richland County, Ohio, a daughter of Troy Lester and Helen Price Cole of Mansfield, Ohio and the late Mildred Norris Cole.
Sharen was a homemaker, loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a step son, Steve Owens.
She is survived by her husband, Wilford Amos Owens; two daughters, Crystal Owens of Olive Hill, and Tina Ann Owens of Mansfield, Ohio; one step daughter, Ladonna Setser of Mansfield, Ohio; two grandchildren, Deja Hawthorne and Talya Lampley both of Olive Hill; three sisters, Dianna Teeters of Mansfield, Ohio, Cheryl Labor of Mead, Oklahoma, Delores Cole of Lavon, Texas. She also leaves several other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial followed in the Owens Cemetery on Upper Smokey Road in Olive Hill.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.

ASHLAND – Alvin Clyde “A.C.” Romans, also known as Poppy, 72, of Ashland passed away Wednesday, June 24, at Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Alvin was born June 15, 1937 in Hopewell.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 26, at 1 p.m. at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel.
