Carl Wayne

McDavid

1927 – 2010

GRAYSON – Carl Wayne McDavid, 82, husband of Jeanetta Ingles McDavid, went home to join his Heavenly Father on March 9,

He was born June 13, 1927, in Boyd County to the late Hughie and Rose Oney McDavid.

Carl Wayne graduated from Hitchins High School in 1944, joined the Army, and served as an MP in Europe at the end of WWII.

He was the youngest member of Mount Chapel United Baptist Church when he joined in May 1952, and was the oldest member at the time of his passing.

He was a licensed pipefitter with Local 248 and opened McDavid Plumbing and Heating in Grayson over 50 years ago. He later became a developer and was the proud builder of over 250 homes in the Carter County area.

He was passionate about his hobby of collecting antiques, especially hanging lamps. He conducted all of his business and personal affairs with a commitment to honesty, integrity and fairness. He will be remembered for his wonderful smile, great sense of humor, joy for life and people, and most of all, for his deep faith in the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delphia Colley McDavid, his son, Lonnie Charles, and brother, Harold Gene McDavid.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanetta Ingles McDavid, whom he married on October 11, 1980. Other survivors are two daughters, Karen McDavid, Lexington, and Paula (Garry) Ledford, step-daughter, Linda Ingles, stepson, Larry Ingles, his adopted family, Robert “Bo” and Carol Mayo and children all of Grayson. He also leaves to cherish him seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him Poppy, sisters Mary (Charles) Parsons, Syble Sue Morris, and Barbara (David) Burgess, and brothers Chester (Belva) McDavid and David (Kay) McDavid, sister-in-law, Elsie McDavid, many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Carl Wayne was well loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted March 13, at Malone Funeral home in Grayson with J.D. Riggs, Lewis Baier and Eury Barker, ministers.

Burial was in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers were Joey Ledford, Levi Ledford, Bennie Gee, William Gee, Bub Mayo, Charlie Mayo and Jeremy Howerton.

Kenneth Everman

1921 – 2010

GRAYSON – Kenneth Everman, 89, of Grayson, passed away March 9, at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

He was born Feb. 12, 1921 in Carter County, a son of the late Thomas and Edna Brown Everman.

He was a retired operator with Armco Steel and was a WWII Army Veteran.

His survivors include, his wife, Verna Marie Bellew Everman of Grayson, one daughter, Karen Everman of Morehead, one brother, Ray (Ruth) Everman of Grayson, one sister, Mildred Waggoner of Grayson, one granddaughter, Megan Glancy of Morehead and one step-granddaughter, Rachel Williams of Bel Aire, Md.

Funeral services were conducted March 13, at Barrett’s Creek Baptist Church in Grayson with Eddie Barker, minister.

Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Malone Funeral Home in Grayson is in charge of the arrangements.

Marie H. Bowen

GRAYSON – Our Mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was loved by all who knew her.

She was a life long resident of Carter County. Marie owned and operated a well- known clothing and furniture store for forty-seven years.

She was a charter member of Dixie Park Freewill Baptist Church. In earlier years she was involved in numerous community activities. Her love was family, church, business, friends and travel. She taught her children and grandchildren to be compassionate and caring for others.

Marie had a strong work ethic with emphasis on honesty, and determination was important to her, as well as giving to people rather than receiving from people. The love and care she has given over the years to numerous people had a profound affect on their lives, which instilled a fond memory in each heart forever.

It is an honor and privilege to have been part of her life witnessing her generosity over the years. With her passing it has brought an indescribable sadness, and sorrow, leaving a void in each one's life.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marie is survived by two sons, Bob (Debra) Harris Grayson and Jerry (Debbie) Harris of Grayson, two daughters, Betty (Lewis) Claxon Grayson and Bonnie (Jerry) Yates of Grayson, two Sisters, Juanita (James) Jackson of Grayson and Goldie (Arthur) Hay of Grayson, one Brother, Wayne (Mildred) Grizzell of Flemingsburg; 17 grand children, 25 great grandchildren, and fourgreat great grandchildren.

Funeral services were March 12, at Malone Funeral Home with Terry Harris and Tim Hall, Ministers, with burial in Grayson Memorial Cemetery.



Lloyd Vernon Criswell

1952 – 2010

FLORIDA –Lloyd Vernon Criswell, 58, of Crystal River, Fla, formerly of Grayson, passed away March 6, in Gainsville Fla. He was immediately received and welcomed by his father, Ovelton Daniel Criswell, Loving Niece, Jennifer Lynn Criswell, and father-in-law Charles and Elsie Ingle.

Lloyd was born Jan. 11, 1952, in Logan, W.Va. son of Belva Williams Criswell and the late Ovelton Daniel Criswell.

Survivors along with his mother are his true love, his lamp in the lighthouse, ever watchful wife of 34 years, Bettyann Ingle Criswell, daughter, Lennetta Gail Thomas, son Michael Vincent Manuel, grandson, Tyler Adam Caleb Thomas, two brothers, Roger Dale (Connie) and Daniel (Shirley) Criswell, both of Grayson, and several nieces and nephews.

On Sat. the world lost a great man, “Chris” known by many a friend, sailed away to heaven from complications following extensive Cancer surgery. Joining the navy right out of high school, he proudly served his country for 22 years, where he retired as chief. He completed three tours around the world, encountering many conflicts, some bringing personal injury to himself. With the bravery of a true military hero, he completed the task laid before him, fighting for what he believed in. In the last battle, we called upon the Lord to protect him as he had so many others. God protected him from pain and took him away into his arms to save him from suffering. Sadly missed, never forgotten by those who survive him.

Funeral services were held March 15, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland, by Pastor Keith Crum.

Burial followed in East Carter Memory Gardens, where Military graveside rites was presented by Ceredo-Kenova American Legion Post 93.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Lazear Funeral Home 1632 Central Avenue, Ashland. Ky 41101 to help with his final expensesbelieved in. In the last battle, we called upon the Lord to protect him as he had so many others. God protected him from pain and took him away into his arms to save him from suffering. Sadly missed, never forgotten by those who survive him.

Edwin Hazel Holman

1960 – 2010

RUSH – Edwin Hazel Holma, 49, of Rush, Ky, died March 13, at Ashland, following a sudden illness. Eddie was born April 20, 1960 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, a son of the late Theodore and Ruth Goode Holman.

Memorial service was held March 17, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland.
