Verna Mae Stanley

1924-2009

GRAYSON– Verna Mae Stanley, 85 of Grayson was graciously taken home by her Lord, November 17, 2009 at Carter Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Grayson. She was born October 9, 1924 in Greenup County, KY, a daughter of the late Ray Roscoe Riffe and Maggie Gillispie Riffe. Mrs. Stanley was a life-long member of the Wilson Creek Baptist church and was retired from Cinderella Fashions in Ashland.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Stanley in 1992; one brother, Ray Riffe Jr., and one sister Parthea Shaffer.

She is survived by two sons, Jrffrey Lynn (Gypsie) Stanley of Louisville, KY, Randell Ray (Lynn) Stanley of Grayson; one daughter, Dottie (Richard) Easterling of Grayson; five sisters, Irene Conley of Leesburg, FL, Myrtle Smith of Ashland, Mabyn Hopkins of Ashland, Jeany Angel of Ashland, and Dorothy Prichard of Grayson; In addition she is also survived by five grandchildren, Jeffrey Lynn Stanley II, Shayne Easterling, Crystal Schrecker-Jones, Julianne Sanders, and Abigail Stanley.

Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday November 20, 2009 at the Wilson Creek Baptist Church by Jim Varney and Jo Ed Rice. Burial will follow in the East Carter Memory Gardens.

Friends may call 6-9 PM Thursday November 19, 2009 at Sparks Funeral Home and from 12:00 till 1:00 PM Friday At Wilson Creek Baptist Church.

Roy Elliott Bryant

1925-2009

OLIVE HILL–Roy Elliott Bryant age 84, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday afternoon, November 17, 2009, at his residence.

He was born June 4, 1925, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late James Robert and Polly Carpenter Bryant.

Mr. Bryant was a former employee of North East Area Development Council in Olive Hill, Kentucky, and was a member and Assistant Pastor at the Mountain Top Chapel Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Wayne Bryant; one great-grandson, Ryan Smith; one brother, Millard Bryant; three sisters, Ada Marie Layne, Dora Mae Barker and Mary Edith Gilbert.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Genevene Easterling Bryant; five sons and six daughters-in-law, James and Wanda Bryant, David and Nancy Bryant, Greg and Arvetta Bryant all of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Mike and Martha Bryant of Grayson, Kentucky, Barry and Dyana Bryant of Richmond, Virginia, Patricia Bryant of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirlene and Harlen Barker, Brenda and Allen Bledsoe all of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Wanda and Paul Spencer of Wheelersburg, Ohio; twenty-five grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jeremiah Bryant of Grayson, Kentucky. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, other extended family members, church family, neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Woodrow Rayburn and Brother Eugene Rayburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Bryant Family Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, anytime Friday, and until the service hour Saturday, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Diana Joy Berry

1956-2009

GRAYSON– Diana Joy Berry, age 53, of Grayson, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 18, 2009, in Brown County, Ohio, from injuries sustained from an automobile accident.

She was born July 4, 1956, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of Estill Fields of Bentonville, Ohio and the late Phyllis Barker Fields.

Ms. Berry was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. She attended the Gregoryville Christian Church in Grayson, Kentucky and was baptized in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, at the United Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joshua and Dawn Berry of Belvidere, Tennessee, Johnathan Berry of Grayson, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Carly Berry and Dylan Weaver both of Belvidere, Tennessee; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Wilma Jones of Manchester, Ohio; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Joe Gilkison of Cincinnati, Ohio, Terrie and Don fo Tollsboro, Kentucky, Sherry and Sheldon Sparks of West Union, Ohio; close family members, Owen and Sherry Phillips, Sue Utley all of Grayson, Kentucky. She also leaves several extended family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Lewis Davis and Brother Joe Gilkison officiating. Burial will follow in the Biggs Hill Cemetery in Grayson, Kentucky.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Sheldon Sparks, Jason Jones, Don McNutt, Steven Sparks, Jamie Young, Rodney Utley, Nick Wilburn and Jeremy Cooper will serve as pallbearers. Her sons Joshua Berry and Johnathan Berry will serve as honorary pallbearers.



Calvin Douglas Fannin

1958-2009

OLIVE HILL– Calvin Douglas Fannin age 51, of Carter City, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009, at his residence.He was born January 10, 1958, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of Naomi Stallard Fannin of Columbus, Ohio and the late Rubert Howard Fannin, Sr.

Mr. Fannin was a ten year employee of CSX Railroad, where he worked as a carmen welder and he was a life long farmer. He was a member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629 and was a Shriner.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Rubert Howard Jr. and Vicki Lynn Fannin of Olive Hill, Kentucky; a niece and a nephew, Lacy Faye Fannin and Jordan Chad Fannin both of Olive Hill, Kentucky. He also leaves several other extended family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Bill Burnett and Brother Russell Bud Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, and until the service hour Saturday, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

A Masonic service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Friday, by the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #639.

Noah Alvin Butler

1934-2009

FLEMINGSBURG– Noah Alvin Butler, Age 75, of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, passed away Monday afternoon, November 16, 2009, at the Golden Living Center in Vanceburg, Kentucky.

He was born May 7, 1934, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of the late Mason and Mable Charlton Butler.

Mr. Butler was a forty-three-year employee of the Swan Rubber Company in Bucyrus, Ohio.

He was of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jayson Butler; two brothers, Vinson Butler and Norman Butler.

His survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Betty Louise Cooley Butler; two sons, Jeff Butler and wife Bobbi Sue of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Gene Butler and wife Karen of Wallingford, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Jessica Butler, Jeremy Butler, C. J. Butler and Josh Singinthonger; three brothers, Lonnie Butler and wife Charolett of Ray City, Georgia, Forest Butler and wife Evelyn, Hansel Butler and wife Carolyn all of Vanceburg, Kentucky; three sisters, Rosetta Corns and husband Lenoard, Imogene Richmond and husband Dale all of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Barbara Kitchen and husband Lowell of London, Kentucky. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Camp Dix, Kentucky with Brother Carl Angel officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith-Gilliam Cemetery on Laurel in Lewis County, Kentucky.

Sherman Schuylar Clark

1927-2009

OIIVE HILL– Sherman Schuylar Clarkage 82, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday morning, November 19, 2009, at the Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson, Kentucky.

He was born June 5, 1927, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Morton and Sarah Belle Clay Clark.

Mr. Clark was a retired employee of the Carter County Board of Education, where he taught carpentry for more than eighteen years. He was a Christian and a forty year member of the Church of God. Sherman was also a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge # 708.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louie Clark and Jim Clark; one sister, Pina Boggs.

His survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Mary Magelane Evans Clark; one son, Sherman Schuylar ‘Skip’ Clark of Apopka, Florida; two daughters, Angie Stevens of Morehead, Kentucky and Teresa Forman of Olive Hill, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Scott Clark, Alex Stevens, Haley Forman and Skylar Forman; two brothers, William Clark of Arizona and Donald Clark of Jeffersonville, Indiana; one sister, Nell Merrill of Georgia. He also leaves several other extended family members, church family, neighbors and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Gayle Price and Brother Delmar Logan, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Clark Cemetery Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Gayle Henderson Ernst

1935-2009

ARIZONZ– Gayle Henderson Ernst, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2009 at the age of 74. She was born to Cecil and Ruth Cline Henderson in Olive Hill, Kentucky on July 9, 1935. She attended Wittenberg College and Arizona State University where she majored in English and Ancient History. She also got her masters degree in Latin American History from ASU. She married Edgar W. (Bud) Ernst, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky in 1960. Together they enjoyed fishing, college sports and bridge until his passing in 2000. She was cherished by her daughters Julie Ernst Oswood and Stacey Clendenin, with whom she moved to Scottsdale in 1976. She will also be greatly missed by her adoring grandchildren, Corinne and Matthew Oswood and Alyssa Clendenin. Gayle loved gardening, mystery novels and quantum physics. She will be greatly missed.

Family will receive friends at Messinger Indian School Mortuary from 5PM to 8 PM on Friday, November 20th. Funeral services will be held at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 21st at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name will be accepted by the American Lung Association of Arizona at www.lungarizona.org .





Gerald “Goose” Roark

1944 – 2009

OLIVE HILL– Gerald D. “Goose” Roark, 65, of Olive Hill, KY, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 21, 2009 at Kings Daughters Medical Center following a brief illness.

Goose was born February 4, 1944 a son of Nemo Blevins Roark of Olive Hill and the late Mose Roark.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1990, his sister Carol Lynn Roark, Brother-in-Laws Fred Evans Jr. and Don Greenhill.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years Judy Greenhill Roark, Mother Nemo Blevins Roark, Daughter Jayla Suttles, Sister Joy Roark Adkins and husband Wayne, Sister-in-laws Phyllis Evans and Barbara Greenhill, Grandson Brandon Suttles, Great Grandson Braydon Suttles and his mother Meghen Hay, Nephews Tim Adkins (Kim), Mike Adkins (Karen), Kenny Adkins (Robin), Nick Rodgers (Allison) and Donald Greenhill, II (Mary Carolyn) Nieces Freda Evans and Teresa Evans Davis (Jeff).

“Goose” was an avid sports fan and very active in civic affairs. He was a member and Past Master of Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629, Past Patron of Olive Hill Eastern Star #290, a member of the El Hasa ShrineTemple, El Hasa Motor Corps, Past President of Carter County Shrine Club, Chairman of Carter County Shrine Club Horse Shows for many years and announced the classes for the last several years. A member of American Legion Post #138, Ross Chapel Area Neighborhood Watch, Past member of Advisory Board Owner & Trainers Racking Horse Association, Past member of Olive Hill City Council and currently serving on the Board of Directors of the North East Area Development Council. He very proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force and was a retired member of Boilermakers Local #40

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Olive Hill Historical Society (old Olive Hill High School Gym) Gymnasium officiated by Rev. Dale Collinsworth and Rev. Randy Binion. Burial will follow in McFerren-Gee Cemetery, with military rights by Olive Hill American Legion Post #138. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 5 – 9 PM at Olive Hill Historical Society Gymnasium.

Eastern Star Services will be conducted Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM by officers and members of Order of Eastern Star #290. Masonic Services will be conducted at 6:45 PM by officers and members of Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629. Pallbearers will be Brandon Suttles, Tim Adkins, Mike Adkins, Kenny Adkins, Nick Rodgers, herald Gene middleton, Rodney Vanlandingham and Brad Vanlandingham. Honorary Pallbearers are James E. Jack Douglas McKinney

1942-2009

GRAYSON– Jack Douglas McKinney, 67, of Grayson went to be with his heavenly father, whom he so adored, Wed. Nov. 18, following a brief illness.

Jack was born Oct. 20, 1942 in Hitchins, a son of the late Walter and America Wells McKinney. He was a husband, father and a minister of the word of God. A US Army veteran, having served in Vietnam, Jack accepted the call to preach in 1979. He was a former pastor of the Hilltop Community Church in Lewis County, Lower Stinson Community Church, then Coalton Community Church. He retired from Armco Steel in Ashland in 2004 after 37 years, working most recently in the shipping department. He was a member of the Grayson Fire Department since 1991 where he served as Chaplain. He was also a member and chaplain of the Carter Co. Firefighters Association, the Eastern Kentucky Firefighters Association, and was a member of the National Federation of Fire Chaplains. He received the Firefighter of the Year award from the Grayson area Chamber of Commerce in 1993. He was a member of the Grayson Freewill Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the church advisory board. An avid lover of God, he was always ready to proudly proclaim the Glory of the Heavenly Father.

He was preceded in death by a daughter,Tammy Annette McKinney, A brother, Paul McKinney and a sister, Nora Jean DeHart.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Yvonne Easterling McKinney; A daughter, Jami Horton of Grayson; a granddaughter Kristin Horton; 4 brothers, Frank McKinney of Princess, Woodrow McKinney of Ashland, Ed McKinney of Rush and Ray McKinney of Summit; 3 sisters, Mandy Gullett of Coalton and Leona Rucker of Ashland and Kathleen Gollihue of Grayson; his church family and a host of friends and loved ones.

Services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Sat. Nov. 21, at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson by Jim Varney and Terry Sexton. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.

Jackie Greene

1954-2009

MARTHA– Jackie Greene, age 55, of Martha, Kentucky, passed away Monday afternoon, November 16, 2009, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

Mr. Greene was born February 24, 1954, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, a son of the late Arnold C. and Bleva Boggs Greene.

He was an equipment operator and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernie Greene.

His survivors include, five brothers, Tommy Greene of Webbville, Kentucky, Eddie Greene, Cody Greene and wife Betty, Timmy Greene and friend Patricia Marshall, Martin Greene and wife Imogene all of Martha, Kentucky; two sisters, Norma Jean Gilliam and Karen Sue Gilliam both of Martha, Kentucky; a special friend, Lisa Burris and her children, Alisha, Auriel, Kayla and Isiah.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at the Elizabeth Baptist Church at Martha, Kentucky, with Brother Donnie Sturgill and Brother Emmett Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the McKinster Cemetery at Martha.

SANDY HOOK– Jessie Elizabeth Porter Lewis, age 57, of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland, Kentucky.

Mrs. Lewis was born February 16, 1952, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of Eileen Hall Porter of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, and the late Royce Glen "Gene" Porter.

Jessie was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband of thirty-four years, Jerry Lewis; two sons, Richard Lewis and Mark Lewis and his fiancé Amy Elliott all of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Reece Lewis and Emily Lewis; one brother Larry Royce Porter and wife Jennifer of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; two sisters, Carolyn Jean Whitt and husband Frank of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Deborah Ann Cox of Sandy Hook, Kentucky. She also leave other extended family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.

Joseph Isaac Cox

1982 – 2009

OLIVE HILL – Joseph Isaac Cox, age 27, of Lemaster Cemetery Road, Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009.

Born March 19, 1982, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he is the son of Ada Sabon Cox Lewis Hughes of Morehead, Kentucky, and William Allen Cox and wife Jane of Spencerville, Indiana.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Anastasha Lewis of Morehead, Kentucky, and Twila Barker of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; two brothers, Devin Lewis and Levi Lewis, both of Morehead, Kentucky; three half brothers, Adam Cox, Josh Cox, and Ethan Cox, all of Spencerville, Indiana; maternal grandmother, Betty Sabon of Morehead, Kentucky; paternal grandmother, Roberta Cox of West Liberty, Kentucky; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, William Allen Cox, II.

Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and listening to music.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bishop Ted Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Rice Cemetery.

Mary Nadine "Sally" Weaver,

WHEELERSBURG –Mary Nadine "Sally" Weaver, 77, of Wheelersburg, went to be with the Lord with her family by her side Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at SOMC Hospice. Sally was born February 11, 1932, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William Lewis Binion and Nellie Fife Binion. She was a housewife and a member of Adams Memorial United Methodist Church. Sally is survived by her husband, David E. Weaver, whom she married June 21, 1977, at Slocum Station. Also surviving are one son, Gary Haywood, of Simi Valley, California; two daughters, Diane Barker and husband Homer, of Olive Hill, Ky; Sharon Gilley and husband Jerry, of Toledo, Oh; one brother, Richard Binion and wife Patricia, of Olive Hill, Ky; one sister, Betty Skaggs, of Olive Hill, Ky; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Sally was also preceded in death by one son, Elmer Lee Haywood and six brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Mildred Cains Dehart,

OLIVE HILL– Mildred Cains Dehart, age 87, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 17, 2009, at the Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson, Kentucky.

She was born September 23, 1922, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Sexton Cains.

Mrs. Dehart was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Wylie Dehart; one son, Jay Dehart; two brothers, Dennis Cains and Frank Cains; two sisters, Ethel Mae Hood and Mary Inez Roman.

Her survivors include, three sons and daughters-in-law, Connie and Vicky Dehart of Galena, Ohio, Jerry Dehart, Bill and Frances Dehart both of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rosemary and Robert Lawson of Lexington, Kentucky, Cloteen Henderson of Olive Hill, Kentucky; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends that will sadly mourn her passing.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, at the Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Allen Underwood and Brother J. C. Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Dehart Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may call 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, and until the service hour Friday, at the Oney-Henderson Funeral Home in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Nixola Kiser Roe,

1924-2009

OLIVE HILL– Nixola Kiser Roe, age 85, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday afternoon, November 19, 2009, at her residence in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

She was born June 8, 1924, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Culie and Katherine Conley Kiser,

Mrs. Roe was a homemaker and has been a Christian for more than sixty-three years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Talmage E. Roe; a son, Jimmie Wayne Roe; one grandson, Roy Daniel Roe; five brothers, Terry Kiser, Shorty Kiser, George Kiser, Truman Kiser, and Norman Kiser; three sisters, Oney Reynolds, Jean Raybourn, and Brenda Kay Kiser.

Her survivors include, three sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Brenda Roe, Roy and Amanda Roe all of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Gary and Kathy Roe of Greenup, Kentucky; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dennis Kiser, Phillip and Barbara Kiser all of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Jim Kiser, Tony and Lula Belle Kiser all of Alliance, Ohio; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia "Wee" Maggard of Alliance, Ohio, Sue and Ernie Wells of Worthington, Kentucky. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends that will sadly mourn her passing.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Jimmy Barker and Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in the McKinney Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, and until the service hour Sunday, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

1955-2009

GRAYSON– Robin Lynn Roar, age 54, of Grayson, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday evening, November 18, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

She was born February 20, 1955, in Stark County, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Beulah Holbrook Roar.

Ms. Roar was a homemaker and she was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Roar.

Her survivors include, one daughter, Jennifer Roar of Olive Hill, Kentucky; a granddaughter, Kiersten Burchett also of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three brothers, Billy Joe Roar, David Roar and Ricky Roar all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one sister, Rita Skaggs of Olive Hill, Kentucky; a very special niece and care-giver, Shawna Messer of Grayson, Kentucky. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends that will sadly mourn her passing.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Edward Messer, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Top Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

OLIVE HILL– Ronald Kenneth Middleton, age 60, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away, Thursday morning, November 19, 2009, at the Saint Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky.

He was born July 12, 1949, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Kenneth and Ona Mauk Middleton.

Mr. Middleton was a construction power line foreman. He loved playing guitar with his many friends and riding his motorcycle.

He is survived two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy and Christine Middleton of Ohio, Scott Middleton of Elliott County, Kentucky; three daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy Middleton of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Robin Middleton, Nikki and Michael Richards both of Elliott County, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Britini Griffith, Meagan Vance, Caden Richards, Cody Richards, Skyler Middleton and Gabriel Middleton; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Jack and Jenny Middleton of Ashville, Ohio, Ray Middleton, Phillip Middleton, Roy and Kathy Middleton, John Paul and Ruby Middleton, Danny and Diane Middleton all of Elliott County, Kentucky; one sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Glen Mobley also of Elliott County, Kentucky. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.

Tommy Williams,

1935-2009

GRAYSON– Tommy Williams, 74, of Grayson, KY passed away on Sunday, November 15th, 2009 at Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on July 7th, 1935. He married his wife, Garnet Kennedy on January 20th, 1954. They were married for 55 years. He worked in Ohio at Republic Steel, on the railroads and at Kroger. After he retired he worked in farming. Preceding him in death was his daughter, Karen J. Williams; two sons, Chester Williams Richard A. Williams . Also preceding him were his parents, Virgie (Jessie) and Joseph Williams; 3 brothers, Johnny Williams of Olive Hill, KY, Clyde Williams and Estill (Booker) Williams both from Ohio; 6 sisters, Ruby Syzcmak, Jewell Krowkowski, Irene Shoma, Lillian Bishop all from Ohio, Lola Clark of Soldier, KY and Dorothy Tackett of Morehead, KY; one grandchild, Joanie Smith of Grayson, KY. Tommy Williams is survived by his wife, Garnet Kennedy Williams of Grayson, KY; 9 children, Donald E. Williams of Aurora, Colorado, Paul D. Williams of Gustavus, Ohio, Thomas M. Williams of Farmdale, Ohio, Phillip N. Williams of Cortland, Ohio, Timothy R. Williams of Kinsman, Ohio, Brenda K. Williams-Wade of Warren, Ohio, Garnet E. Williams-Smith of Grayson, KY, Sherry A. Williams of Carter, KY, Donna R. Williams-Perry of Olive Hill, KY; 16 grandchildren, Laura, Lisa, Brian, Denny, Joseph, Tanya, Shawn, J.C., Annabelle, Heather, Ashley, Courtney, Tiffany, Tony, Nicolas and Zachary; 3 great-grandkids, Madison, Cole and Breanna; 4 step-grandkids, Katrina, Kaylee, Paul and Alex; also one sister, Thelma Smith of Lexington, KY. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Grayson. Burial was in the Williams Family Cemetery. Virginia E. Massard

1960-2009

OLIVE HILL– Virginia E. Massard, age 49 of Olive Hill, Carter County, KY, passed away at her home on Monday, November 16, 2009.

She was born on May 12, 1960, the daughter of Hiram Wesley and W. Christine (Schultz) Holcomb.

Virginia is survived by her husband Jerry of Olive Hill, KY, her father, Hiram Holcomb of New Boston, MI, her mother, W. Christine Holcomb, a brother, Chuck Holcomb and a sister Liz (Jim) Fink, all of Brownstown Township, MI, also, a brother Harry Holcomb and a sister Tammy (Bud) Pickett, both of Taylor, MI, two nieces, Angelena (Michael) Harnisch of Belleville, MI, Heather (Roosevelt) Henderson of Taylor, MI, one nephew, Anthony Charles of Flat Rock, MI, also great-nieces and nephews Michael III & Amberlyn Harnisch, Roosevelt Jr. & Trinity Henderson. Virginia was a past member of Belleville Church of God. She enjoyed all crafts, especially needlepoint and making dolls. She was always happy to help her friends and family. She loved spending time with her family and her long-time love, husband Jerry. Preceded in death by her son, Shawn David Holcomb on November 15, 1993, her sister Cassie Carreras on October 2, 2007 and a nephew, Alex Charles on May 15, 1999.

Visitation at DAVID C. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, Belleville, MI, on Friday, 2-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Belleville Church of God, 45170 Hull Road, Belleville, MI, with visitation from 12-1 PM. Dr. Frederick L. Weaver will be officiating.
