Students from Olive Hill Elementary participated in the Carter County Spelling Bee on Friday February 5, 2009 at WCMS. The first, second, third and fourth place spellers from each school spelling bee participated in the County Bee. Students participating were (L-R) Daneyl Tackett(4th place), Bobbi Binion(3rd), Kayla Porter(2nd) and Abigail Ruley(1st) and Superintendent Darlene Gee. Olive Hill Elementary is very proud of these students and their accomplishments.

Book fair will begin Monday, March 1st and run through March 5th!

4 scholarships up for grabs
The Northeast Kentucky Community Action Agency, Inc. will award two $1,000 scholarships through the Owen Fielding Memorial Scholarship Program and two $1,000 scholarships through the Lonnie M. Click Memorial Scholarship Program. To qualify, the applicant must be graduating from high school and planning to enter college or an institute of higher learning this fall and meet the criteria listed below:
• Be a resident of Carter, Elliott, Greenup, Boyd or Lawrence Counties
• Have a 2.5 grade point average or higher
• Meet the income guidelines
Applications and economics guidelines are available at the counselor’s office at each school or at the local Northeast offices.
