Olive Hill’s Reds meet the pros

The Olive Hill Reds t-ball team made a trip to Cincinnati Saturday to see the Major League Reds in action. The team took the trip to celebrate the end of their season.

The little Reds got to participate in the Little League Parade where they got to walk all the way around the field before the game. The team was escorted on the field by their coaches Jarrod Duncan and Patrick Perry and several parents.

Team members are Jackson Bond, Lexie Bond, Chesney Burchett, Austin Burge, Taylor Callahan, Izaiah Conn, Kinsey Duncan, Zachary Gumm, Hailey James, Garrett Jenkins, Zachary McKenzie, Aden Nichols, Molly Perry, Orry Perry, and Kaden Wilson.

    The Lady Raiders volleyball team fell to Rowan County on the road last Thursday, 2-0. The young East Carter team was playing without three of their starters and just couldn’t seem to find their rhythm against the Lady Vikings.

    The Comets took a 16-13 loss on Friday to Fariview at Blankenship Field. This is the second year in a row that West Carter has lost to the Eagles, falling 13-7 last year.

    If the Lady Comets don’t win another game this season, they will have had a better year than 2009. With a 1-16-1 record last season and a brand new coach, maybe West’s first two opponents of the year weren’t expecting much from the young team…and that was a huge mistake.
