Lady Comets hit the road

By Leeann Tanner - Staff Writer

The Lady Comets hit the road Tuesday (after press time) to face off with 2-3 Greenup County.

The Lady Musketeers are coming off a 78-52 loss to Sheldon Clark Monday night. The Lady Comets will need to contain Grenup’s 6-foot Emily Brown inside and Kayleigh White and Brooke Bentley on the outside. White and Bently are both 5-foot 10 and the Lady Musketeers boast seven additional players over 5-foot-five.

“They have a lot of size,” Coach Tex English said of Greenup in a pre-game interview. “Whichever team can force their style will win it.”

West went in prepared to press more and up the game’s tempo.

“We will have a stronger defensive style,” English said. “We’ll play the style we have been working on all year.”

West will spend the rest of this week and next week in the gym. Their next matchup is with East Carter Jan.1.

“We are trying to stay in good shape,” English said. “We are working on fundamentals and getting after each other in practice.”
