GRAYSON - Brenda Adkins, 64 of Grayson died Friday, November 26 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Ashland.
She was born Apr. 8, 1946 in Grayson a daughter of the late Glen Thomas and Mary Ruth Parsons Littleton. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Anthony Littleton.
Brenda was the loving wife of Donald for 46 years, she was a member of the Gregoryville Christian Church, she enjoyed quilting, crafting, sewing, and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Adkins, a daughter, Mary Lynn (Joe) Odicta of Morehead, KY, a sister Judy L. Littleton of Olive Hill, KY, two brothers, Michael (Brenda) Littleton of Amanda, OH, and Larry Littleton of Powell, OH, two grandchildren, Erin Whitney Rummage and Adam Christopher Rummage. She is also survived by several neices and nephews.
Funeral services were held Nov. 29 at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Lester Bowling, minister. Burial followed in the Grayson Burial Park.

Lillian Marie Adkins Sparks Castle

GRAYSON - Lillian Marie Adkins Sparks Castle, 78, of Catlettsburg went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 1, 2010. She was born August 10, 1932 in Grayson, KY a daughter of the late Ballard Junior and Emma Wicker Adkins. She was a homemaker and attended the Catlettsburg Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Sparks, one brother Ballard Adkins Jr., granddaughter Amy Jo Branham, one grandson Eddie Dean Sparks and a brother-in-law Glen Jordan. Her survivors include: five sons; Jerry and wife Becky Sparks and Wayne and wife Kim Sparks both of Ashland, Timmy Sparks of Morehead, KY, Ronald Sparks and Keith and wife Debbie Sparks both of Catlettsburg, KY; five daughters Carolyn and husband David Barker, of Morehead, KY, Donna Jordan of Ashland, KY, Wanda and Ronnie Branham of Hitchins, KY, Mary Lykins and Frank of Ashland, KY and Kay and husband Joe Leggitt of Catlettsburg, KY. 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and aides of Community Hospice, and special friends Teresa Turley and Robin Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, 2:00 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home by ? minister. Burial will be in the Adkins Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 Friday at Malone Funeral Home and after 12 noon Saturday.

GREENUP - Betty Lou Coomer, 64, of Grayson, Kentucky passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Mrs. Coomer was born December
3, 1946 in Lynn, Kentucky a daughter of the late Buford and Lettie Brown Gullett. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Donald Ray Coomer; 2 sons, Donald Ray Coomer II of Grayson, KY and Robert Coomer and his wife Candy of Denton, KY; 1 daughter, Alicia Smallwood of Greenup, KY; 3 brothers, Jack Gullett, Bill Gullett, and Don Gullett, all of Greenup, KY; 4 sisters, Faye Pence of South Shore, KY, Joyce Stevens of Greenup, KY, Bessie Claxon of Greenup, KY, and Deborah Leadingham of Columbus, Ohio; and 5 grandchildren, Amber Coomer, Elizabeth Coomer, Ethan Smallwood, Emily Coomer, and Robert Coomer II.
A memorial service was conducted Monday, December 6, 2010 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Bro. Kenneth Martin.

GRAYSON - Bonnie Louise Stidham Edelen, 75 of Grayson, KY went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 2, 2010 at Kings Daughters Medical Center. She was born August 16, 1935 in Grayson, KY a daughter of the late James “Bud” and Virginia Greer Stidham. She was a retired Hotel manager for Ramada Inn and an Air Force Veteran.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley R. Edelen and a sister Betty Kitchen and a brother James Douglas Stidham. She is survived by two sons James Richard Edelen of Gulfport MS and David Wesley Edelen of Bay St. Louis, MS; three sisters, Georgia and husband Jack Harper of Greenup, KY, Mary and husband James of Bruin, KY and Peggy and Mike Carter of Flatwoods, KY; two brothers Billy Lafe and wife Dolly Stidham of Grayson, KY and Danny Lynn and wife Vicki Stidham of Ashland, KY a brother in law, Gene Kitchen of Grayson; 2 grandchildren.

GRAYSON - Marjorie Coleman Hall, 90, of Lexington, formerly of Grayson, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She was born August 3, 1920 in Olive Hill, KY a daughter of the late Ed R. and Mary Boggs Coleman. She was a member of the Pactolus Methodist Church and was a retired bookkeeper with Ben Williamson Supply Co. in Ashland, KY and Boggs Hardware in Grayson.
She was preceded by her husband Marion Elwood Hall, brothers and sisters and two grandchildren.
She is survived by one son Allen Edward Hall of Grayson and by a daughter Mary Lou Hall of Lexington, KY; grandchildren Sheri L. Hall, Van A. Hall, and Lori Hobbie; four great-grandchildren Emily Grace Hall, Choloe, Zachary and Isaac Hobbie; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services were Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Tom Riffe, minister. Burial was in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Opal Margaret Caudill Howard

GRAYSON - Opal Margaret Caudill Howard, 87, of Grayson, KY, passed away Tuesday Morning November 30, 2010 at her residence. She was born November 19, 1923 in Breathitt County, KY a daughter of the late James Caudill and Mary June Honn Caudill.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles D Howard Sr.; one brother, Joe Caudill; and two sisters, Dixie Brown, and Martha Stacy.
She is survived by one son, Dr. Charles D. Howard Jr. and his wife Minnie of Grayson, KY; one brother, Col. James Caudill of Leavenworth, KS; one brother-in-law, Joe Stacey of West Liberty, KY; one sister Helen Black of Nicholasville, KY; One granddaughter, Dr. Candice Howard-Claudio and her husband Dr. Pier Paolo; and two great-grandchildren Carley and Franco. In addition to these she is also survived by a host of Nieces and Nephews. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to a special caregiver and Friend, Elsie Gilbert of Grayson, KY.
Mrs. Howard attended Morgan County High School where she was a Drum-Majorette, Graduated from Morehead State University were she also was a Drum-Majorette, she was a retired teacher in the Kentucky School System, she retired from the Greenup County Clerks Office in the 1960’s and spent the last 20 years of her working career with the Department of Human Resources in Grayson, KY. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter #10, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonel’s, and a member of the Bagby Memorial Methodist Church in Grayson, KY.
Services will be conducted 11 AM Thursday December 2, 2010 at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, KY with Larry Bair officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter memory Gardens in Grayson, KY.

Karie Ly "Angel" Huynh
1989-2010
OLIVE HILL - Karie Ly “Angel” Huynh, age 21, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born January 30, 1989, in Grand Haven, Michigan, she is the daughter of Hung Huynh and his wife Anh Ngo of Houston, Texas, and Donna Conaway Timmons and husband Bill of Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Other survivors include one brother, Korey Huynh serving in the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan; three sisters, Kellie, Katie, and Kristie Huynh, all of Houston, Texas; grandmother, Beverly Richards and her husband Lyle Richards of Muskegon, Michigan; one nephew, Calvin; one niece, Caelyn; her fiancé, Justin Robinson of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and many other devoted family members and friends.
Karie was recently promoted to manager of Starbucks on the campus of Morehead State University, where she was also enrolled in the Nursing Program. She was employed as a part-time Administrative Assistant at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. Angel enjoyed fishing, horseback riding and animals, especially her beloved dog, Bella.
Angel loved her special times with Justin and his family, whom she considered her own.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Interment will be in Forest Park Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
Visitation is after 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
Olive Jean Smith

GREENUP - Olive Jean Smith, 60, of Lucasville, Ohio, passed away December 6, 2010 at Southern Hospice Faculty in Portsmouth, Ohio. Mrs. Smith was born March 3, 1950 in Hamilton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Hiram and Bertha Riddleburger White.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack White. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, William Fields Smith; 3 sons, Kenny Hockenheimer and his wife Jenny of Waverly, Ohio, Victor Hockenheimer of Lucasville, Ohio, and Billy Neely and his wife Jamie of Mindford, Ohio; 2 sisters, Eydie Bailiey and her husband John of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Penny Cornett and her husband Jim of Columbus, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Amber Free, Taylor Neely, Gabriel Neely, and Austin Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday at Crane Creek Baptist Church in Greenup County, Kentucky by Bro. Glenn Stephenson and Bro. Bob Alexander. Burial will be in the Smith-Claxton
Cemetery in Argillite, Kentucky. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup and one hour before the service on Wednesday at Crane Creek Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers,

Lester Stewart
1920-2010
GRAYSON - Lester Stewart, 90, of Grayson, KY, passed away Sunday evening, December 5, 2010 at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. He was born April 13, 1920 in Columbus, OH a son of the late Lester Eldon Stewart Sr. and Marie Herlocker Stewart.
Mr. Stewart was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the 99th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired from Ohio Edison Company in Marion, OH; a member of the Plain City Auxiliary Police Department in Plain City, OH; former Vice Commander of the Grayson VFW Post #3705, and was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents two sons, Ricky Lee Stewart and James William Stewart, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Parks Stewart; one daughter, Georgiana Ratcliff of Grayson, KY; one sister, Lucy Lane of Westerville, OH; four grandchildren, Regina Rose, Rachel Parker, James Stewart and Angel Valerio; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted 1:00 PM Wednesday December 8, 2010 at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with Dr. Lee Gussler officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter Memory Gardens with Military Honors conducted by the East Carter JROTC.
Friends may call 11:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 at the funeral home.

GRAYSON - Lakisha Swanagan, 30, of Arcadia, IN died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Riverview Hospital in Madison IN. She was born July 13, 1980 in Richmond, IN a daughter of Linda Lewis of Aiken SC. In addition to her mother her survivors include one brother Brian Swanagan of Grayson and Maternal Grandmother Kathleen Seagraves of Grayson. Funeral services will be Saturday; 11:00 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Delmar Rogers minister. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memorial Gardens. Jerry Patton Vincent
1946-2010
ASHLAND - Jerry Patton Vincent, 63, of Ashland, former county attorney of Boyd County, died Nov. 24 in Community Hospice Care Center of Ashland.
He was born Nov. 30, 1946, in Grayson, the son of the late Edward and Wanda Reeves Vincent. He was a 1964 graduate of Hitchins High School, a 1974 graduate of the University of Kentucky and a 1977 graduate of the University of Kentucky College Of Law. He served 12 years as Boyd County attorney and practiced law for more than 20 years. Before retirement, he was a member of the Boyd County Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Kentucky Academy of Trial Lawyers, and other professional groups. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam, serving there in 1965-66. His memberships included the VFW, American Legion and Elks. He also was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Laura Kappes Vincent, his son Mitchell, and wife, Leslie, daughter Shea Salley, and husband, Josh, and the lights of his life, grandchildren Jocelyn Salley and Gavin Vincent. He also is survived by a special cousin, Karen Calhoun of Grayson.

GRAYSON - Gladys Buckler Williams, 78 of Holland, MI, formerly of Grayson, KY , passed away Thursday Evening December 2, 2010 in Holland MI. She was born March 27, 1932 in Carter County, KY a daughter of the late Milford Buckler and Ethel Smith Buckler. Gladys was a Homemaker, a loving wife and Mother. She was of the Baptist Faith and attended Bivens Chapel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James “Jack” Williams in 2000; one brother, Woodrow Buckler; and two sisters, Ruthie Stepp, and Gran Adkins.
She is survived by two sons, Rex Williams and his wife Joyce of Flatwoods, KY, James Williams of Flatwoods, KY; two daughters, Ruth Ann Burge and her husband Charles of Holland, MI, Kaye Gilley of Finnville, MI; five sisters, Modie Lee of TN, Judy Bensenhaver of Circleville, OH, Norm Green of London, OH, Nola Harmon of London, OH, and Audrey Ray of Pomeroy, OH. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

GRAYSON - Memphis Uldine Williams Yoak, 77, of Grayson went to be with her Lord, Friday, December 03, 2010 in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. She was born June 19, 1933 in West Virginia a daughter of the late Fred and Lillian Trail Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband William R. Yoak, a daughter at birth Gina Ann, a brother James V. Williams and a sister Yvonne Hayes.
She is survived by two sons; Willard and Kim Yoak of Fairborn, OH and Kenneth Yoak of Grayson; five step-sons, Edwin and wife Jackie Yoak of Columbus, OH, Donald and wife Georgia Yoak of TX, John F. Yoak of Columbus, OH, Mike and wife Jamie Yoak of Cincinnati, OH and Bob and wife Brenda Yoak of Grayson, KY; three daughters Regina Church of Webbville, KY, Pamela and husband Nick Carroll of Ostrander, OH and Ramona and husband Greg Damron of Carrollton, KY, stepdaughter Carolyn and husband Keith Sexton of Boyd Co., KY.; three sisters Janice Hayes of Clendenin, WV, Lois Oaks of Cabin Creek, WV and Linda and husband Jess Strickland of Elkview, VA; one sister in law Helen Williams; one brother John and wife Carol Williams of Elkview, WV; 28 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous great step-grandchildren.
