Allen Edward “Ed” Conn
1932–2009
OLIVE HILL – Allen Edward “Ed” Conn, 78, of Olive Hill, passed away Sept.1, at his residence.
Mr. Conn was born June 5, 1932, in Carter County, a son of the late Benny and Ella Underwood Conn.
Ed was a member of the Providence Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired mechanic from Erwin & Kiser Auto Supply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lynman Conn and one grandson, Christopher Conn.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Marcella Day Conn; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Vickie Conn, and Gary and Peggy Conn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sonja and Dean Buckner, and Rita and Aaron Burton; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, all of Olive Hill, and a sister, Syble Simpson of Lexington. Ed also leaves several other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Sept. 4, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Paul Zornes and Brother Bob Day officiating.
Burial followed in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill.
Gary Dale Conn, David M. Conn, Michael Wayne Robinson, Eric Burton, Joseph Carroll, and Corey Frasier served as pallbearers.

Belva Criswell Pennington
1925 – 2009
GRAYSON – Belva Criswell Pennington, 85, of Grayson, died Sept.1, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She was born April 6, 1925 in Nicholasville, Va.
Funeral Services were conducted Sept. 4, at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson.

Roxann Lowe Leadingham
1954 – 2009
OLIVE HILL – Roxann Lowe Leadingham, 56, of Olive Hill, passed away August 31, at her residence.
Roxann was born June 5, 1954, in Carter County, a daughter of Emma Jean Adkins Lowe and the late Carl Lowe.
Roxann was a telecommunications worker and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Michael Leadingham, and a brother, Jeff Lowe.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-six years, Kenny Leadingham; two sons, Mike Leadingham and Scott Leadingham; three grandchildren, Eian Leadingham, Braden Leadingham, and Gage Leadingham; three brothers, Mike Lowe, Carl Lowe, and John Lowe, all of Olive Hill, and three sisters, Pam Lowe Bocook of Vanceburg, Ky, Debbie Lowe James, of Olive Hill, and Cindy Lowe, of Grayson.
Roxann also leaves several other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held Sept. 3, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Randy Binion officiating.
Burial followed in the Lowe Cemetery on Rattlesnake Ridge in Olive Hill.
Nephews, family, and friends served as pallbearers.

Phyllis Steele
1933 – 2009
SALYERSVILLE – Phyllis Steele, 76, of Salyersville, formerly of Grayson, passed away Sept. 2, in Paul B. Hall Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 15, 1933 at Lawrence County, Ky, a daughter of the late James and Hattie Sizemore Boggs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Silas Steele; one son, William Patrick Steele; three brothers, Jack Boggs, James Arlie Boggs and Roger Boggs and two sisters, Mildred Williams and Janice Boggs. Her survivors include: one son, Zachary (and Christine) Steele of Prestonsburg, Ky; one brother, Randy Boggs of Grayson; one sister, Brenda Marshall of Florida and three Grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sept. 5, at Malone Funeral Home, with Ronnie Graves, minister.
Burial was in the Webbville Community Cemetery.

Rick Allen Brown
1954 – 2009
OLIVE HILL – Rick Allen Brown, 56, of Olive Hill, passed away Sept. 4, at the Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, Ky.
Mr. Brown was born Feb.10, 1954, in Boyd County, a son of Avanell Carroll Brown of Olive Hill, Ky, and the late Raylie Brown.
Rick was a telecommunication worker with Elite Technologies.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy and Stacey Brown, Ricky Brown, Christopher and Amy Brown, all of Olive Hill, and William Trace Brown of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren, David Allen Brown, James Christopher Brown, Holly Marie Brown, and Reagan Lashaun Brown, all of Olive Hill, a brother, Michael R. Brown of Olive Hill, and a sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Kenneth Pettit of Morehead. Rick also leaves several other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 8, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Ky, with Brother Chris Glover and Brother Ed Porter officiating.
Burial will follow in the East Carter Memory Gardens in Grayson, Ky.
Christopher Brown, Michael Brown, Jeremy Brown, Ralph Caudill, Dave Tackett, and Jack Butler will serve as pallbearers.

Ruie Colley
1927 – 2009
GRAYSON – Ruie Colley, 83, of Grayson went to be with her Lord on Sept. 6, at her residence.
She was born June 21, 1927 in Grayson, Ky, a daughter of the late George B. and Mary Dysard Gannon.
She was retired from Grayson RECC as an administrative assistant to Mr. Haight, a member of the Grayson First Church of Christ, former proprietor of the Corner Shop, served as Grayson City Clerk and served as the first female Grayson City Council member for two terms.
She was preceded in death by her husband Watt “Sid” Colley in 1994; she also was preceded by three sisters Marie Gannon Fultz, Iona Gannon Osenton and Alene Gannon Hendricks; one brother Wm. Ford Gannon and one great grandson William Daniel McDavid.
Her survivors include one son Richard “Dick” and wife Anne Colley of Salado, Texas, two daughters Sydney Nolty of Grayson and Marianne and husband Michael Johnson of Grayson, Ky; eight grandchildren Rob and wife Angie Nolty, Susan and husband Bill McDavid, Ryan and wife Heidi Nolty, Jenna and husband Scott McGuire, Clay Johnson, Zachary Colley, Sarah Colley and Samuel Colley; Great grandchildren Jacob McDavid, Andrew McDavid, Lauren Nolty, Hudson Nolty, Emma Claire Nolty, Colton McGuire and Aidan McGuire.
Funeral services will be conducted Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Malone Funeral Home by Tim Nischan, George Steele and George Waggoner III.
Burial will be in the Grayson Memorial Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 - 9 p.m. Wed. and after 8 a.m. Thursday.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Nolty, Ryan Nolty, Bill McDavid, Clay Johnson, Scott McGuire and Randy Stanley.

Ronald "Ron" Jones
1942 – 2009
OLIVE HILL – Ronald "Ron" Jones, 68, of Olive Hill, passed away Sept. 2, at his residence.
Mr. Jones was born June 11, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of Norma Justice Jones of Olive Hill, Ky, and the late Fred Jones.
Ron attended the Ross Chapel Church and was retired from Olive Hill Finishing. He loved spending time with his family. His main interests were car showing and custom cars and trucks. He was a member of the KKOA (Kustom Kemps of America) for twenty-four years.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Jones, and a son-in-law, Joel Hargett.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mitzi Gearhart Jones; two daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly Ann Jones Hargett of Olive Hill, and Kandi LaRon Jones Carpenter and David of Marysville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Kelli Hargett and Kurt Taylor of Morehead, Zachary Hargett of Olive Hill, Andrew Hargett of Olive Hill, Aaron Carpenter of Marysville, Ohio, and Matthew Carpenter of Marysville, Ohio; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan and Paulette Jones of Olive Hill, Rickie and Cleda Jones of Grayson, and Chris and Erma Jones of Richmond, and a sister-in-law, Michelle Jones of Olive Hill, Kentucky. Ron also leaves several other family members and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Sept. 5, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Johnny Seagraves and Brother Terry Dean officiating.
Burial followed in the Shady Rock Cemetery on Prater Road in Olive Hill.
