04-19-12 — Mrs. Mable Juraline "Jeri" Sammons Scarbrough, 66, of Grayson, passed away Friday morning, October 19, 2012, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
She was born November 5, 1945, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Vernal and Opal Parsons Sammons.
Jeri attended the Clifty United Baptist Church and was a private caregiver. She enjoyed talking to her family and friends on the telephone and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six infant brothers and two infant sisters.
Jeri is survived by one son, David Scarbrough and his fiancé Monica Farley of Nicholasville; one daughter and son in-law, Rebecca and John Reece Sr. of Richmond; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Sammons of Olive Hill and William C. "Bill" Sammons of Coopers Coal, Texas; and two sisters, Myrtle Grace Sammons and Lorraine Sublett, both of Olive Hill. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2012, at Clifty United Baptist Church in Olive Hill with Elder J. D. Riggs, Elder Jim Carroll, Elder Louie Bear and Elder Eury Barker officiating. Burial was in the Locust Hill Memorial Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends visited from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2012, and from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Matt Sublett, Terry Sublett, Richard Sublett, T.J. Sublett, Anthony Benson, Austin Benson, Earl Reece and Lynn Wayne Reece served as pallbearers.
