03/13/13 — Mrs. Leona "Jackie" Bays Williams, 90, of Olive Hill, passed away Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013, at her residence.
She was born April 1, 1922, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Robert and Flossie Steagall Bays.
Leona was a Christian and worked for many years at Ralco Sewing Inc. She loved cooking, working in her flowers, trying new recipes, feeding her birds and fixing Sunday dinner for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Williams; four brothers, L. T. Bays, Newton Bays, Theodore Bays and Jess Bays; and six sisters, Clara Bays, Ivory Phelps, Lucille Crossland, Levon Wilson, Florris Bays and Lula Bays.
Leona is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Brent and Arnett Williams of Olive Hill; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy Lynn and James Whitt of Morehead; six grandchildren, Leigh Ann Adams, Kenneth Stevens, Angela Slone, Rebecca Valandingham, Leona Gail Seagraves and Frankie Williams; 10 great grandchildren, Leslie Slone, D. J. Slone, Tyler Stevens, Kirsten Stevens, Brittany Stevens, Robbie Stevens, Kenneth Stevens Jr., Kaitlyn Seagraves, Hannah Seagraves and Brayden Williams; one great great grandson, Landon Slone; and three sisters-in-law, Jewell Bays, Thelma Smith and Garnet Williams. She also leaves her pet bird, Chico; a special dog, Baby; and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Bobby Easterling officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowen Chapel Cemetery in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, and until the service hour Friday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
