1918-2012
Ruby McDavid, 93, formerly of Willard, passed away Tuesday, January 31, at Carter Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born April 27, 1918, in Jeriel, the daughter of the late Ollie Davis Thornbury, Sr. and Martha Jane Ratcliff Thornbury. She was a homemaker and housewife. Ruby was a member of Willard Baptist Church and Grayson Chapter Eastern Star #10.
Ruby was a very caring and loving person. Her family meant everything to her. She was also very dedicated to her church until failing health prevented her from attending. Those who knew her well know what a wonderful person she was. No words can express how much she meant to us.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Watt McDavid in 1986; three sons, Bobby, Jackie and Watson who succumbed to Muscular Dystrophy as teenagers; another son Billy McDavid also preceded her in death as well as two brothers Melvin Thornbury and Ollie Thornbury, Jr.
She is survived by one daughter Debbie (Tim) Prichard of Grayson; one stepdaughter Gail (Bob) Smith of Martin Tennessee; one brother James (Betty) Thornbury of Grayson and one sister Jewell (Ray) Fosson of Willard; seven grandchildren Ben (Tabatha) Prichard, Amanda Prichard, Erica (John) Prichard, Shane (Stephanie) McDavid, Daniel McDavid, Tomi Parrish and Shawn (Carol) McCutchen. Also, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 4 at 1 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home with Ronnie Graves officiating. Burial followed in East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends called from 5 until 9 Friday, February 3.
