08/02/2012 — Mrs. Ruth Belle Stevens Tackett, 97, of Grahn, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2012, at her son’s residence in Mansfield, Ohio.
She was born December 11, 1914, in Carter County, a daughter of the late John Wesley and Pearlie Barker Stevens.
Ruth was a long time member of Grahn Hill Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church. She was one of God’s special children and was blessed to be a person anyone could talk to. Her greatest joy in life was serving the Lord and she was one of his special servants. She loved flowers and today is in a place where the flowers will bloom forever. Ruth loved her children dearly and was very devoted to them. Her grandchildren were also a great joy in her life. Her children can really say they found a virtuous woman in their mother and her life will always be a light for her family to follow. If she could speak to you today, she would say for you to get ready and come meet her in Heaven.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Wayne Tackett; four children, Phyllis Joy Tackett, Barbara Ellen Tackett, Manuel Ray Tackett and Donald Tackett; four grandchildren, John Wayne Tackett, Kathy Tackett, Del Ray Tackett and Billy Ray Tackett; two great grandchildren, Christopher Neil Tackett and Angel Roark; three brothers, Louie Stevens, Virgil Stevens and Gaylord Stevens and one sister, Sena Stevens Lanthorn.
Ruth is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Carol Tackett of Mansfield, Ohio, Stanley and Robin Tackett of Dresden, Ohio and Danny and Ernestine Tackett of Olive Hill; four daughters and sons-in-law, Freda Fought of Mansfield, Ohio, Theresa and Monroe Craig of Olive Hill, Janet Hamm and Gary Maddix of Carter County and Pam and Adam Humphrey, of Mansfield, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren and 30 great, great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members, church family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, with Brother Herman Copley and Brother Clifford Earl Tackett officiating. Burial followed in the Newell Cemetery in Grahn.
