John Finley Rister

1964-2012

Mr. John Finley Rister, age 48, of Greenup County passed away Wednesday morning, June 13, 2012, at his residence.

He was born January 26, 1964, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Vernon and Anna Mary Fiffe Rister.

John was a member of the Lloyd Ridge Pentecostal Church and was a life long logger. He worked for Wayne Madden Logging for 32 years. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Cassidy Rister, and one sister, Virginia Belle Rister.

John is survived by three sons, Ernie Henderson, Jr. and John F. Rister, Jr., both of Greenup County, and William Kilbler of Vanceburg; four daughters, Arlene Fraley Rister of Greenup County, Rebecca Bertram and Sharon Rister, both of Garrison, and Crystal Farmer of Marion, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; four brothers, Ronnie Rister and Gary Rister, both of Vanceburg, and Vernon Rister, Jr. and Billy Rister, both of Greenup County; four sisters, Ruth Ann Horsley and Jennie Musser, both of Greenup County, and Barb Madden and Angie Nolen, both of Vanceburg; his fiancé, Barbara Coburn, and her eight children, Frank Lee Coburn, John Coburn, Jason Coburn, William Jake Coburn, James Moses, Rhonda Barker, Tina Finley, and Norma Rister. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Brother Mark Cassidy officiating. Burial will follow in the Dummitt Ridge Cemetery on Dummitt Ridge in Lewis County.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, and until the service hour on Saturday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West 2nd Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
