04-19-12 — Mr. Ford Welton Fielding, 94, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday morning, December 4, 2012, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
He was born August 17, 1918, in Carter County, a son of the late Owen and Effie Tackett Fielding.
Ford was of the Christian faith and proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He graduated from Morehead State University with a Masters in Art Education and retired from the Cincinnati, Ohio, school system where he taught art. Ford was an avid reader and loved poetry, paintings, mobiles and kites. He was a strong Democrat and enjoyed following political events.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Roger Fielding and Owen Patrick Fielding; and two sisters, Myra Sue Henderson and Wanda Barker.
Ford is survived by two sisters, Clara Alice Fielding of Olive Hill and Patricia Delores "Dodie" Fielding Lankford of Ironton, Ohio, and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Andrew Pitts officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138.
Friends may visit after 10 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Jack Lowe, Matt Lowe, Patrick Fielding, Arthur Rogers, Brent Henderson and Roger M. Patton will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made to the Olive Hill United Methodist Church.
