03/04/13 — Mrs. Virginia Lee Porter Swanigan, 67, of Porter Creek Road, Olive Hill, passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2013, at her residence.
She was born April 15, 1945, in Carter County, a daughter of the late Roy and Edna Mabry Porter.
Virginia attended Walnut Grove Community Church and was a homemaker. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Willard "Shorty" Swanigan; one daughter, Marjeana Bradley; and five brothers, Burl Porter, Jackie Porter, Billy Wayne Porter, Ralph Porter and Harold Porter.
Virginia is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Timmy Reeves and Matthew Reeves, both of Olive Hill, and Gregory and Merenda Reeves of Whitesburg; a granddaughter whom she raised as her own child, Julie Roark and her husband, James Lee of Olive Hill; three other grandchildren, Shawn Litton, Caden Reeves and Landen Reeves; two great grandchildren, Joshua Roark and Jayla Roark; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Faye Porter and Roy D. and Loretta Porter, all of Olive Hill, and Danny Ray and Pearlie Porter of Grayson; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Edith Fife of Campton, Catherine and Phillip Bradley of Olive Hill and Ruth Ann Brown of Ashland. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Arlin King and Brother Delmar Logan Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradley Cemetery on Dry Branch in Olive Hill.
Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, and until the service hour Tuesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
